But when we tracked her down to Copenhagen, Mimi revealed she was NEVER his girlfriend ...and went on to say why she thinks the peroxide Welsh warbler's not quite white in the head.
INVITED her to church in a bid to woo her—even though he knew
he didn't have a prayer because she already had a boyfriend.
Mimi, 23, also a budding opera singer, became friends with
Rhydian when they starred in a college production of Mozart's
opera The Marriage of Figaro at Birmingham Conservatoire.
But she was alreading dating Jakob, her Swedish boyfriend of
two years. So when the story of Rhydian's "secret love" leaked,
Mimi was furious.
"I was shocked because he knew about my relationship with my
boyfriend," she said.
"We were close friends but I felt Rhydian was using me for
his own career. I was so angry and upset I burst into tears.
"I was gobsmacked because Rhydian knew I had a boyfriend and
they were good friends at college. Jakob was shocked and offended.
"When
I contacted Rhydian this week he was very apologetic and kept
saying, ‘I'm so sorry. I'm really, really sorry. I shouldn't
have brought you into it.'
"He loves being famous and getting all this attention. But
I'm a very private person and find all this scary. I hate the
fact he has dragged me into this."
She described the lengths Rhydian, who's naturally a curly-topped
redhead, was prepared to go to in his bid to hit the big time.
"He told me he'd always wanted to be a star and I have never
met a man so determined to succeed.
"In college his main focus was singing, working and training—his
voice and his body. He was very muscular and saw his whole body
as a musical instrument. To stay super-fit he would go to the
gym every morning. Then he would go cycling in the afternoon.
"He always wore a black balaclava. He said it would stop him
getting colds. Then he would go running in the evening."
And when she joined him on one run she learned how extreme
his regime had become.
"I was fit, but he was so fast I felt I was going to have a
heart attack trying to keep up with him," said Mimi.
Camp
His voice training was just as punishing. "He worked harder
than anyone else. All the students would leave by 6pm but Rhydian
would stay alone at college and continue his vocal exercises
until the doors were locked at 10pm."
He also worked hard trying to woo Mimi—even though he knew
she had a boyfriend.
"Rhydian flirted with me all the time. We were inseparable,
though he knew I had a boyfriend. He even invited me to go to
church with him."
The flamboyant star is rumoured to be gay—but Mimi is convinced
otherwise. "I certainly don't think he is gay," she said. "In
Sweden guys are quite camp, so I never felt that."
But with words that will shatter Rhydian's massive ego, Mimi—the
girl of his dreams—said:"He is not my type. He is an enigma.
I don't even want to be linked with him."
The
oddball opera singer has been showing off pictures of pretty Mimi
Terris and telling pals backstage how he was pining for her.
