The West Ham defender was pictured looking understandably gaunt and weak as he battles back to full health after suffering the life-threatening injuries during an attack at his mother's home in Bedford last month.
Although doubts remain as to whether the 26-year-old will ever be able to resume his footballing career, he is relieved to be alive after losing half his blood and undergoing an operation on both his legs.
Davenport issued a message of thanks through West Ham's official website for all the support he has received as he comes to terms with a lengthy rehabilitation process.
"I would like to thank anyone who has ever donated blood, as you probably saved my life," he declared. "I would like to encourage everyone to give blood.
"At the moment, I am still in hospital and have quite a long way to go on the road to recovery but I am feeling positive."
Davenport spent the back-end of last season on loan with Sunderland and had been poised for another temporary switch away from Upton Park.
