The Mexican winger, 20, has been sidelined with damaged ankle ligaments and will miss two crunch World Cup qualifiers for his country.
But he is determined to come back stronger after limping off in last month's win over Preston.
The £8.6million star said: "I've had a scan and am hoping I can get back in a couple of weeks.
"It is very frustrating that I got a start but had to come off after just 15 minutes. I really want to show what I am capable of doing.
"I'm not saying I should be chosen ahead of Defoe, Crouch or Keane. But I've been in good form, doing well at training and waiting to take any opportunity.
"Harry Redknapp is a great manager and I'm hoping he will give me some more minutes on the pitch when I'm fit. This season I'm stronger mentally and physically."

I think he is a class act but needed to be kicked about in the championship before coming back stronger in the prem. A very good move by Mr Redknapp, he has helped him grow as a player, physically and mentally.
