GILDED AGE, Lingfield 3.45pm

MARK JOHNSTON had four entered in Lingfield's 3.45pm and the fact he relies on GILDED AGE is a tip in itself.

The three-year-old's weight allowance against older horses is 10lb at this time of year over a mile and a quarter, which means talented apprentice Mark Lawson's mount only has 8st 2lb - less his rider's 7lb claim - to carry against older, more exposed, rivals.

Impressive in winning his maiden at Newcastle in April, this well-bred gelding hasn't had conditions to suit since, but fast ground will be perfect here and we might be looking at some 5-1.
