Degale's gold came aftter canoeist Tim Brabants added a kayak 500m bronze to his 1,000m gold after a brilliant fightback at the Shunyi Centre on Saturday morning.
And Sarah Stevenson also won bronze after finishing third in the 67kg taekwondo following an incredible protest by the British team.
Walton-on-Thames doctor Brabants, 31, trailed at the start and was back in fifth halfway through the race. But he fought back brilliantly to finish just behind Australia's Ken Wallace and Canada's Adam van Koeverden.
Stevenson only made it to the semi-final after Britain protested about her quarter-final defeat. The protest ended with the judges overturning the original verdict and awarding Stevenson victory.
But that left her with precious little time to prepare for the semi and she lost out to Mexico's
Brabants took the 1,000m gold on Friday with a sensational paddle, leading from start to finish to destroy the field.
Boxer James DeGale is guaranteed at least a silver when he fights in the middleweight final.
Britain now has a stunning 19 golds, with 13 silvers and 15 bronzes to stand fourth in the overall medals table, behind China, USA and Russia - easily our best return since the 1908 games in London.
