LOAN RANGERS Jay Simpson and Adel Taarabt inspired another win for Jim Magilton's awayday specials.

Simpson and Taarabt, on loan from Arsenal and Tottenham respectively, fronted a familiar attack-minded approach but more basic methods sealed the win.

And it was this that got the Londoners' promotion bid back on track after being restricted to one point from two home games.

Magilton welcomed a new side to his stylish team after they survived a strong challenge from former club Wednesday. Centre-back Kaspars Gorkss stole in to head a late winner from sub Alejandro Faurlin's corner as Rangers resisted Wednesday's second-half pressure.

Owls boss Brian Laws, celebrating his third anniversary in charge, felt the result was harsh and disputed the award of Rangers' match-winning corner.

But Magilton revelled in the result after Rangers, ahead for the third time in as many games, made the advantage count. He said: "We get credit for free-flowing football but grit and determination earned this fourth away win."

Simpson guided in a sweet left foot strike from Taarabt's astute pass in a flurry of early action that saw Jermaine Johnson equalise in similar fashion.

Luke Varney and Tommy Miller hit the post for the Owls.

Laws said: "That was really cruel. We had them penned in and lost to a corner that should never have been awarded."
