It's no joke for Brendan and Roy

Roy Keane and Brendan Rodgers share a joke
SMILES BETTER - Roy Keane and Brendan Rodgers

HEARD the one about the two Irishmen - the first in charge of a Reading side that can't win at home, the other of an Ipswich side that can't win away?

Yes, they drew. It's the way they tell them.

Brendan Rodgers and Roy Keane - friends who did their UEFA coaching badges together - are going through tough times in their new jobs at the bottom of the Championship,

Both are trying to find a winning formula to placate expectant fans and ease the pressure. But they will have to wait a little longer.

Jon Stead's ninth-minute opener for the visitors was cancelled out just after the interval by Simon Church.

And Ipswich boss Keane said: "My breakfast tasted good last week after we beat Derby but I'm not sure what it'll taste like in the morning.

"Maybe we scored too early because it was one of our worst performances."

Reading manager Rodgers felt they had missed out on all three points and said of Keane: "At least one of us isn't going to be very unhappy and we can have a friendly chat."
