BRAZIL WOULD SURE BEAT BLACKPOOL

But we can't afford to splash out on property this year

WE had the pleasure of a training ground visit from a company trying to sell us property in Bulgaria, Brazil and Barrow in Furness this week. Now that is a diverse portfolio.

With everyone struggling to pay mortgages and getting their houses repossessed, it doesn't really seem like the best time to be buying an extra property abroad.

Mind you, given the weather in Blackpool at this time of year, Brazil does sound good.

I imagine the company is really aiming at Premier League millionaires, rather than players like us who have been trawling the lower leagues all their career. They also gave us the intriguing offer of putting £12,000 into a wine consortium.

Aside from not being in a position to buy a place in the sun, it's been a terrible few weeks for us and it didn't get any better when we lost our fourth game in a row on Tuesday against Sheffield Wednesday.

It's crazy how fortunes in football can change in just a couple of weeks. We have gone from 12th in the league and looking up the table, to 19th and looking over our shoulders.

The lads were talking the about the worst run they have had in football. Most of us had gone seven or eight games without winning. Shaun Barker, however, trumped us all and admitted he had gone 24 games without winning at Rotherham!

I have been at teams before where we have been on bad runs - Stockport County, for instance. The big difference between them and our situation at Blackpool is that we have a manager who is calm and not panicking. We also have great team spirit here that will hopefully see us turn these results around.

For the last two games I have been dropped/rested/rotated or whatever you want to call it.

Not being out there on the pitch helping your team-mates is one of the worst things about football.

When the team loses, you feel helpless and and when we win you don't really feel part of it. I'll need to score soon to make sure I'm back out there helping the boys.

On a more positive note, I'm going to watch my beloved Manchester City beat the old enemy in the Manchester derby on Sunday.

Some players don't like watching football but I can't understand that. Football has always been a major part of my life and I'm forever watching it on TV or going to games.

You can always learn from watching the best players, although it might be a while till I'm doing some Robinho stepovers!
