And his Arsenal team- mate Robin Van Persie is close to agreeing a four-year extension taking him to 2013.
The Gunners are desperate to tie England star Walcott (right), 19, to a long-term deal.
He has 18 months left on his current deal but such is his magnificent form for club and country, boss Arsene Wenger is ready to double his wages to £60,000-a-week.
Walcott, a £12m signing from Southampton in January 2006, is happy at the Emirates despite Chelsea and Real Madrid interest.
And it could be double delight for Wenger as Van Persie will snub Italian attention to pledge his future to the club.
He wants to double his money to £80,000-a-week but Arsenal remain concerned he has had a major injury in each of his five seasons at the club.
And it is also believed that he does not show up well in the psychological profiles Wenger puts such emphasis on.
So a deal is likely to be struck at around £65,000-a- week for the striker, who is settled in Hertfordshire with his wife and child.

With Walcot i agree with the pay rise, but i disagree with V.Persie's pay rise.He still has alot to prove that he's that worth much.I think V.Persie is not yet worth that amount.

he is massivly overated and overpaid also he is far too young to get married to Melanie Slade. But what I don't get is why did Sven take him to the world cup and never play him .

This is good news for Arsenal supporters but the player who needs to commit himself is FABREGAS because I think Barca bought Hleb with the intention to get FABREGAS.They don't need Hleb, in fact he is mostly on sub bench. But Hleb has been making statements to newspapers since he left that Cesc is looking forwrd to join him in Spain.

There are 2 things to consider when wondering what a player will do when its contract time.
1. Is the wife happy?
2. The money is always right.

while we might not get the pay rises that footballers get who can actually say that they honestly bring in the sort of money players like cesc and wallcott bring into to arsenal from the likes of shirt sales etc etc just think one goal from cesc could win us the champions lege which is worth about 50 million now who can claim to bring that to work no matter what job your in
