'AVE IT: Arsenal KO to tradition

FABREGAS: Breaking with tradition
FABREGAS: Breaking with tradition

ARSENAL are a club who put great pride and store in their traditions. Pity, then, that Arsene Wenger's new breed don't have quite the same respect.

Arsenal's captain has always chosen whether the players wear long or short- sleeved shirts on matchday.

In recent weeks, there has been a noticeable departure from the tradition, with a mixture of short and long-sleeved shirts taking to the field for the Gunners.

Not quite a priority for skipper Cesc Fabregas, but certainly worth a reminder to his colleagues.

GOOD BLOKE GIGGSY

IF EVER you needed an example of why Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs is regarded as such a good bloke here it is.

Giggsy cut short his official BBC Sports Personality of the Year celebrations last weekend in favour of enjoying a couple of drinks with his pals instead, leaving Jenson Button, David Haye and Jessica Ennis in Sheffield while he drove back to Manchester to catch up with his mates in Mojo.

Quality, Ryan, sheer quality.

TIME FOR A TOON BARGAIN

'AVE IT! can't quite work this one out.

You can buy the Newcastle United 2010 team calendar for £7.99 at club stores.

All owned by Mike Ashley, all profits going to the club or Ashley, take your pick.

Alternatively you can walk five minutes from the ground into the city's Eldon Square shopping centre, pop into Sports Direct, owned by Mike Ashley, all profits etc, and pick up the same Christmas present for six quid. Go figure.

OUT OF AFRICA

TIME for Wikipedia to update their Kevin Nolan entry in which they claim the Newcastle midfielder goes to Africa every summer to teach English to disadvantaged children.

Which came as quite a surprise to Nolan because, as he explains: "I've never even been to Africa in my life!"

STRIPE ME, AL!

REECE BROWN: Took the mickey out of Wes
REECE BROWN: Took the mickey out of Wes

ALEX SONG might go missing in the Arsenal midfield but that's unlikely on the road.

Not when his black Porsche Cayenne's got a personalised number plate... and a foot-wide orange stripe that starts on the bonnet, goes over the roof and down to the tailgate.

CHUCKLE BROTHERS BROWN

YOU'VE got to love Reece Brown's front when he appeared at the annual Manchester United in- house panto.

The younger brother of England defender Wes arrived on stage complete with champagne bottle mimicking his elder sibling by insisting: "I'm the hardest and coolest man at Manchester United."

You wanna tell us something Wes?
