The ex-Chelsea manager replaced Hart at Portsmouth this week - just 50 days after going to Fratton Park as director of football.
"Paul feels very strongly that he was knifed by Avram Grant," said a source close to Hart. "It was only a few weeks ago that Grant walked through the door at the training ground, shook Paul by the hand and told him he was not there to take his job.
"He said he was there to assist Paul in his role as director of football but the truth is that he was never around the place and he didn't even meet the players. We have an informal code of conduct in this country where if a manager thinks he may replace another one then he bides his time until he is offered the job.
"Grant went in as director of football knowing that even if Paul did well, he would still have a job at the club upstairs. He also knew that if the team were not winning he would be in a good position to take over.
"It's a selfish way of operating and another example of a foreign boss showing contempt for the code."
