The Dutch striker has had a torrid time at AC Milan since moving to Serie A from Real Madrid in the summer.
And it is almost certain he will be put up for sale in the January window - probably at a cut-price £12million.
It has been assumed Harry Redknapp was in the pole position to sign the 26-year-old, who has yet to score a competitive goal for his Italian club.
Spurs were close to a deal in the summer but Huntelaar preferred Milan. Assuming Redknapp can unload Roman Pavlyuchenko, Spurs will be back in again.
But he faces stiff competition. Sir Alex Ferguson and Rafa Benitez have admired Huntelaar in the past, and Birmingham's new owners would see him as a prestige signing, even if he is unlikely to be Alex McLeish's cup of tea.

Gentlemen,
You are absolutely right, that we cannot compare the Dutch league against the Premier League, Primere Division or the Serie A, but still I am sure, that whoever is willing to give "The Hunter" playtime, goals will be there !!
Keep in touch....with the Dutch.

l think the Gunners need a player like Charlton Cole, cos Arsenal need a strong man at the centre of opposition defence, he will be a great threat to any team especially playing for a team like Arsenal. and we need an esperience medfieder to stop teams bulling Arsenal. some one like Patrick viera, since Song will be away for the Africa nations cup.

arsenal need to sign huntelaar. eduardo and rosicky are too injury prone to be relied on for the whole season, and it seems everyone is out to kill walcott because he is too quick for them. van persie and huntelaar up front for arsenal would be a dream forward line for them especially with arshavin and walcott as well. i think aw can persuade him but we need to cough up the cash and only then can i see us win the league.

yeah...maybe
but still, there's no way on earth, u can compare voronins measly 12 goals in a season in the german league to Huntelaars 33 goals in 34 games in the dutch...
the german league isnt THAT much better than the dutch

Astroturf it is an insult that you compared Voronin to Huntelaar. Huntelaar is in a different class. 14 goals in 25 games for Holland is a very good international strike rate and he scored 8 goals for real madrid in 20 games only 13 of them were starts, thats not bad for half a season with a new team. The reason he is struggling in Italy is because he is not playin regularly and Milan are a very average team nowadays.

No offence to Huntelaar or the Dutch league or anything but...he's failed in two 'big' leagues, was Klaas in a smaller league and Ferguson had first refusal deal with Ajax for him which he didnt take up. Not sure why Man U and Liverpool would be that interested in him now. Voronin is proof that a player can be good in a lesser league; scoring 12 goals last season in Germany but utter rubbish in the Prem.
Sorry Klaas Jan, no insult meant when comparing you to Voronin.
