NEWCASTLE face a serious fight to hold on to stars Jose Enrique and Jonas Gutierrez.

Gutierrez could leave in the transfer window, with both Real Zaragoza and Villarreal keen on the Argentine winger, who has been told by national boss Diego Maradona to quit Newcastle.

The winger scored his first goal for the North East club in Saturday's win against Peterborough and his flair and industry would go down well in La Liga.

Enrique's rich vein of form has also not gone unnoticed on the continent as the full-back proves his quality in the Championship.

In a further blow, I understand Newcastle have no plans to replace Richard Money, who left his post as head of the club's academy to take charge at Luton Town - despite declarations last week in midweek from managing director Derek Llambias that there would be major investment in youth.
