CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TUESDAY PREVIEW

Premier duo ready to seal qualification

MICHAEL OWEN: Likely to start for United
MICHAEL OWEN: Likely to start for United

MANCHESTER UNITED and Chelsea may be sitting pretty at the top of their Champions League groups and they can make qualification a reality if they maintain their 100 per cent records on Tuesday night.

The Premier League big guns meet at Stamford Bridge on Sunday but their European assignments will require their focus for the time being.

United entertain CSKA Moscow, who have fired Juande Ramos since the 1-0 win in Russia secured by Luis Antonio Valencia's late winner, and Sir Alex Ferguson is unlikely to risk a number of his stars.

Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and Ryan Giggs are all out while Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov's participation is doubtful.

It means Michael Owen looks certain to start and Darren Fletcher is set to return to the line-up after injury, in order to prove his fitness ahead of the weekend clash in West London.

Chelsea are away to crisis-torn Atletico Madrid and unlikely to take their foot off the pedal after a stunning run of form.

Didier Drogba is back from suspension but Jose Bosingwa, Yuri Zhirkov and John Obi Mikel are ruled out.

After a 4-0 win in the fixture at Stamford Bridge, Carlo Ancelotti's side will be confident of getting three points at the Vicente Calderon.

Elsewhere, Milan versus Real Madrid is a stand-out fixture with all eyes on the San Siro for what promises to be a feast of goals, while Bayern Munich are under pressure to win their home game with Group A leaders Bordeaux.
