And Kalou says HE can fire the goals to help them win the Champions League.
Kalou has been handed a lengthy run in the Chelsea attack because of Drogba's three-match European ban. He has started all three games in the group stages of the Champions League and scored twice in their 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid.
With Drogba free to return from his ban on Tuesday night, Kalou knows he faces a massive battle to cement his place in the team, but says he will be doing everything to show Carlo Ancelotti he should be handed a starting place against Atletico Madrid in Spain.
Kalou said: "This is a very good opportunity for me. I have not been playing a lot but I have got into the side and scored two goals in my last (Champions League) game. It was a very good performance.
"It is very good for my confidence and I believe I have the quality to do my best for the team.
"I still feel that my best form is yet to come and you need to play regularly to be sharp on the pitch.
"I have not been able to achieve that with the team.
"I still feel I have a lot to show the Chelsea fans. I need to stay fit and do my job on the pitch and the rest is down to the manager.
"You know you are always going to get a lot of chances with players like Deco, Michael Ballack and Frank Lampard. They always provide a lot of opportunities to score."
