LIVERPOOL WANT £6MILLION FOR BABEL

Dutch deal will finance new contract for Reina

RYAN BABEL will jet back home to Ajax in January if Liverpool get £6million for the striker.

Boss Rafa Benitez has stood by the Dutch flop, 22, and offered him a fresh chance this season.

But his patience has run out and Benitez will listen to offers.

Babel started the campaign in the first team but failed to respond to the manager's votes of confidence. The winger is worried about his World Cup place and hoped for a loan move last summer, which Benitez blocked.

He needs funds before sealing a new £90,000-a-week deal for keeper Pepe Reina.

Securing Reina, 27, has become a top priority amid interest from his ex-club Barcelona.

He is viewed by many as the best keeper in the world and is happy at Anfield.

Even though he's been in a dark mood at times this season during a fluctuating campaign, he's committed to Anfield.

Reina was prepared to sign a new deal last summer alongside a string of other top stars, but it was put on hold until the Merseysiders could raise more cash.

Unlucky pile fans, i admit it will be quite sad to see you relegated when you go bankrupt due to finishing outside top 4 and and failing to get to knockout in the CL.....oh well lmfao

Sell Lucas and Voronin and sign Silva and Upson

By jeff. Posted November 2 2009 at 12:35 AM.

well Raff it will be a big blow if you sell a player like babel because he is good but because of your idea of buying your spainsh speaking players and you think you can dump the boy at this stage? well the answer is no because he is not your problem because is a young and has really done well since he came to liverpool. You have not been doing well with your team selections this season, so get back to the drawing board and sort out your problems because ryan is not the issue i must tell you. Because i prefer you going back home than selling the boy who has done so well!

Rafa's problem is he would rather buy a cheap car now than save his money for a better model. Babel £11m, Pennant £6m, Lucas £8m, Voronin etc etc, think who we could have bought for the £25-30m we spent on these players. Also think how much money we have lost or will lose on these players - Pennant left on a free and we'll be lucky to sell Babel for half what we paid.

Well, as a Ajax-fan I can only say: he's welcome in Amsterdam! But I think we don't have the money right now, or we have to sell Luis Suarez but that's a really big lose so I rather keep him.

another poor performance against an at best mid table team, stats say we had the majority of the play, yet torres apart didn't look like scoring. Was a full back at 18 mill and an injured 21mill midfielder really top priority? considering torres had a spell out injured last season & gerrard looks to have recurring groin probs. Lucas, voronin, dossena, babel and a few others have been there long enough for rafa to admit they'll never be top players.

Lucas has been our best midfielder this season (says a lot I know), while Ngog scored against Utd. What do these two have to do to be good enough to "wear the shirt"??

By Steve. Posted November 1 2009 at 11:57 AM.

lucas lucas lucas, open your eyes you fools the lad is always on hand for the ball has to tidy up all the time when gerrards passes go amiss and gets in good scoring positions, hes not the best player in the world i agree, time to bring on the reserves like we did in the old days ,oh and hows this for management ,losing .2-1 at fulham so take off yossi and bring on a defender ,times up rafa your no good for the future of liverpool, after all this squad is the one you created

This just goes to show what a sorry state we are in when we have to sell players to extent others contracts!! We'll be the next Leeds utd!

GET THE YANKS OUT NOW!!!!!!

When will Rafa realise that Lucas, Ngog, Babel, and Voronin have no right to wear the red shirt of liverpool. They wouldn't even get in a sunday pub team. He has to sell them and buy at least 2 players worth the money, or go himself. We will never win the Prem with him in charge.

To Mike

Get of Lucas's back the guy has been one of our better players this season.

Im sorry im a liverpool fan ... but if a goaly can't keep a beach ball from scoring ... how can he be viewed as the best in the world LOL
