NUGENT ADMITS MOVE MISTAKE

Two-goal hero keen on Burnley deal

BURNLEY want to make David Nugent's loan permanent after the striker vowed NEVER to return to Portsmouth.

Nugent came on to score twice in his home debut at Turf Moor yesterday as Burnley beat Sunderland 3-1.

Now he is keen to stay beyond January after two miserable years at Fratton Park, where he started 18 Premier League games.

Nugent, 24, said: "Everybody makes mistakes and I definitely made a mistake moving down south. I hardly played and when I did I was used as a winger rather than a striker.

"I am here until January and there is an option to extend the loan. Hopefully I can make it permanent."

Pompey would be happy to sell the one-cap England striker providing they recoup a chunk of the £5.7million they paid Preston in 2007 - and a £2m deal looks likely.

Well Mr.Nugent , If you had scored a small amount of chances that came your way , you would have probabaly played a lot more games . The glaring miss you made against City when face to face with the goalie made me give up on you my friend. I have nuffing against you , so I hope you shut it about Pompey and get on with your job .

Wrong quote lad - should have read - "when I played I missed every chance that came my way. Even if I was stood on the goal line I still managed to put it over the bar."
