CHELSEA'S £25M VILLA SWOOP

Blues to move for Spain striker

CHELSEA are ready to make a £25million move for Spain international David Villa in the January transfer window.

The Blues are appealing against a FIFA ban on signing players for allegedly breaching rules.

They are confident they will win their appeal within the next month and be free to bring in new players at the turn of the year.

Didier Drogba, Michael Essien, John Obi Mikel and Salomon Kalou will all be missing for up to five weeks after Christmas because of the the African Nations Cup.

Boss Carlo Ancelotti knows he will be short up front and that is why Villa, 27, has now become his No 1 target, especially as Valencia have made it clear they are now ready to sell their star player.

The Spanish club are crippled with huge debts and must now cash in on Villa, who saw a move to either Real Madrid or Barcelona fall through last summer. Ideally, Villa would like to stay in Spain but neither of those clubs appear ready to make a move for him in January and so he has turned his attention to the Premier League.

Liverpool and Manchester United have both been linked with Villa, who might well like the idea of teaming up with fellow Spain striker Fernando Torres at Anfield.

But Liverpool don't have the money and it's unlikely Manchester United will do any significant business during January.

That will enable Chelsea to add a marquee signing that they missed out on in the summer when France's Franck Ribery turned them down despite a £45m offer to Bayern Munich.

Another striker on Chelsea's radar is Napoli's Marek Hamsik.

The Slovakian is valued in the region of £20m.

All those going on about the Chelsea ban need to get a life and read the facts before gobbing off!!! You'll display your continual ignorance and arrogance yet don't know the actual facts! FIFA who have stated and shown a total anti english bias and need to be held to account for bringing the game into disripute and if the finds against Chelsea are proved false then I believe Chelsea FC should take FIFA to court for DEFERMATION and lose of future honours and earnings!

Love to see Cesspool get relegated!!!1 Keep Rafa the Jaffa, your doing a great job! LOL

Get real Chelsea fans. Barca elections are on next summer and all candidates for presidency have all targeted villa as a signing for barca! he will go to barca. He is too good to play for Chelsea. Chelsea only buy strong players who can bully ther way past defenders and not classy players like villa.

Chelsea have paid FIFA off have'nt they! TOSSERS!!! THIS IS UNFAIR, TOTALLY UNFAIR.. THEY GET A TRANSFER BAN FOR BREAKING THE RULES AND THEN THEY IGNORE IT BECUASE THEY KNOW THAT THEY CAN GET AWAY SCOT FREE! This should'nt be allowed. CHELSEA BANNED FROM THE TRANSFER MARKET UNTIL 2011 FOREVER! THEY ALREADY SHOWING THAT THEY DON'T NEED TO SIGN ANYMORE PLAYERS ANYWAY, AND MAN-U WILL ONLY BUY 1 PLAYER BETWEEN NOW AND 2011...

Buying villa to stamford bridge wil be the idea ever u can imagine the combination of villa and drogba, the speed and the skill of villa and strenght and and stamina of drogba wil give chelsea the best forward ever.

villa?,,why spend this sort of money short term,,,timings are all wrong,,ok the african boys will be off for a while, but nic and sturridge will be on hand,,,and di santo recalled,,until drogba (and Kalou,,although quick, and skillful gets knocked off the ball far to easy for me unlike one of the best strikers ever to pull on a chelsea shirt Eider Gudjohnsen,,,why did we ever sell him?)

ets back,,,why run the risk of upsetting the strikers when they have constantley delivered this season?

jon obi,,, aged perfectley to take over from Super Frank in a couple of years
Malouda playing great when he gets a game these days ( reminds me of drogbas early start at club)
Joe Cole ,,brilliant,, every defender at chelsea is world class,,world class,,,,,come on fellas,,,if we are going to buy anyone,,,why not bring back Eider,,not a player who has never played in the top flight of england and prefers a move inside of spain anyway?

FIFA are going to be totally and utterly humiliated by CHELSEA. Their "ban" is already in the process of being thrown out - they have no case at all.

If wishes were fishes the world would be an ocean.

Villa would be a brilliant immediate and long term buy for Chelsea. 'If' as it could esily happen that Liverpool finish outside of the top 4 this season and due to their then financial problems, Chelsea could then attract Torres to team up with his fellow countryman. I can't see Torres staying at Liverpool if they don't qualify for the CL next season.

Idealy i'd want villa with torres but it aint gonna happen cause we aint got the money! ... would be a great signing for any team, and that if that Marek Hamsik is worth 20 MILLION OF THE QUEENS ENGLISH POUNDS .. then LUCAS LEVIA is worth 50!!
