GARY MEGSON is on a collision course with senior players after a furious dressing-room row with Matt Taylor.

The Bolton boss dropped Taylor to the bench for last week's clash against Chelsea after criticising his team's Carling Cup display against Carlo Ancelotti's side.

The winger had been in impressive form in a struggling Bolton side and went to Megson's office to ask why he had been left out.

Megson told Taylor, 28, his decision had been nothing personal but the player stormed out of his manager's office and then remained on the bench throughout the game.

The Bolton chief said after the match that he did not appreciate senior players knocking on his door when they had been left out.

The pair then traded insults before the team left the stadium.

Megson has attracted criticism in private from his more experienced players, who have expressed concern at the team's style of play.

Taylor, 28, a popular £3.5million signing from Portsmouth two seasons ago, could now be ready to leave the Reebok in January.
