The light-welterweight, 22, will be on a diet of four antibiotic tablets a day until he returns from the Olympics.
Then Saunders faces the fourth op on a hand injury which doctors told him three years ago had ended his boxing career.
He said: "I broke the three main bones in my left hand when I hit a sparring partner on his hip. The only way they could save my career was to insert a plate and pins.
"I trained so hard for 12 months trying to make the Olympics team that I bent the plate.
"I then needed treatment on an infection and I'll have the metal remnants out later this year."
