Chelsea’s new manager Scolari has a reputation as a hothead and knows his Manchester United and Arsenal rivals could try to exploit that.
Big Phil has already had one spat with Fergie over claims — which he denied — that, while manager of Portugal at Euro 2008, he advised Cristiano Ronaldo to quit United for Real Madrid.
But the World Cup- winning coach says they would be wasting their time because he will just ignore all the jibes and wind-ups.
Scolari said: “I am not going to fight against any other managers.
“I know they will try to use psychological weapons against me.
“I know they will try and wind me up but it won’t work, they are wasting their time.
“I don’t want to work this way.
“For one thing I don’t speak English so well and I could end up using some bad words — and that is not the right way.
“If people try and say things about me and Chelsea and want a response I’ll just pretend I don’t understand.
“And if my players listen to something negative about Chelsea and our team and get angry I will ask them: ‘Why are you angry? This is nothing.’
“If I was in Brazil it might be different because it is MY country and MY language.
“But in England I need to learn and to know what it is like over the next six or seven months.
“If I need to change I will but, hopefully, I can follow my way.”
