AMERICAN DREAM - Mikael Silvestre

MIKAEL SILVESTRE admits he could follow in the footsteps of David Beckham and finish his career in America.

The 31-year-old shocked a number of people when he moved from Manchester United to Arsenal for an undisclosed fee at the start of the season.

After spending nine years at Old Trafford and being part of the side which won five Premier League titles, the French defender still feels he can compete at the highest level for a few more years.

But Silvestre, who played 361 games for United, reveals Major League Soccer has a big attraction for him.

And says he would be keen to end his playing days in America.

The former Inter Milan, Rennes and Auxerre star said: "I would like to play in America one day. If I have still got energy left in me after my Arsenal career I will carry on.

"But I don't just want to go there and wear the shirt - I want to keep playing well and do well in America."
