Frank Lampard sees red as Chelsea blow it

CHELSEA goalkeeper Petr Cech admitted his team's 1-1 draw with Bordeaux in the Champions League felt like a defeat.

The Blues went ahead through Nicolas Anelka in the 60th minute but the hosts levelled with eight minutes to go through Alou Diarra before Frank Lampard was sent off.

It means Chelsea were leapfrogged by Roma in Group A and must beat Cluj at Stamford Bridge to ensure they reach the knockout stage.

Chelsea were poor in France and the goal by Anelka came from their first shot on target.

It was no more than Bordeaux deserved when they levelled through Diarra who rose unmarked at a corner to head home.

The Blues then had Frank Lampard sent off for a second yellow card to complete their miserable evening.

Cech admitted the result was a bad one for the Blues, saying: "When we concede a goal from a corner with a few minutes to go it is disappointing.

"The moment we scored the goal I thought the game was over although I thought they did really well.

"They played well but I think we should have done better when we scored, we should have closed the game."

Chelsea have a good away record in the Premier League but the Czech keeper pinpointed their lack of goals for their poor form in the Champions League away from Stamford Bridge.

"We have to score goals and in Cluj we didn't and today we scored but conceded.

"The result (3-1) against Roma I don't count because it can happen to anyone, one game you can play badly but to throw away two games is too much."

Cech also denied the reports surrounding Didier Drogba's future did not affect the team and looked at the positives, saying: "I don't know the speculation so can't comment.

"We arrived focused on qualification and the good point is that we have our own destiny in our own hands."

“The result (3-1) against Roma I don’t count because it can happen to anyone"

Thumped 3 - 1 by Roma who are nearly last in the Seria A!
I would pretend it didn't happen also! if you keep denying it long enough the result might change in your favour!

The quality of the Seria A is higher than in the EPL, no question!
