REAL MADRID are poised for another bid to make Rafael Benitez their boss.

And the Spanish giants are confident they can exploit the uncertainty surrounding Benitez's future to finally lure him away from Anfield.

The Liverpool boss has twice rejected approaches from Real - insisting he had a job to finish on Merseyside.

But with current Madrid coach Bernd Schuster now looking certain to lose his job, attention will again focus on Benitez.

The Kop boss is still waiting for serious contract talks to begin at Liverpool and his fragile relationship with owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks suggests he will not get the deal he wants.

The Madrid-born coach was once youth team coach with Real and still regards the Bernabeu with great affection. He is keen to press ahead with Liverpool's best attempt in years to win the Premier League but remains vulnerable to a big-money approach.

Benitez has many admirers at Real, who are desperate to reverse a slide which has put them behind in the La Liga race and could see them miss out on the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Real have also been linked with former Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini and ex-Spurs manager Juande Ramos.

what is the problem with REAL MADRID? I just hope they are addressing the issues. Some of us in Africa -Nigeria, believe the real problems are yet to be resolved though Mr.Benitez could assist with their champions league campaign.

Most of the above comments must be from scared Chelsea fans RAFA to stay

If Rafa's departure means the end of his rotation system based on his warped theories of fresh legs over quality, then please go. Rafa may have cost Liverpool at least two EPL titles with his stubborn persistence with rotation. Lucas Leiva instead of Alonso versus Fulham is the latest. Keane berates teamates on the field too much while blundering himself and yet Rafa persist with him. It's deja vu all over again. Remember Houllier and Heskey? I have supported the Reds for 31 years thru thick and thin but seriously getting tired of Benitez's selection policy.

By Ben Ng. Posted November 24 2008 at 6:30 PM.

Everyone makes mistakes even Benitez. But why must he keep making the same mistakes over and over again? The reason, he's too stubborn and too egoistic to admit he's wrong. He acts like a bloody dictator which is why he lost a good right-hand man before. I believe a team must try to get a good result then rest the players rather than rest the players and try to chase the game which Rafa keeps doing. I doubt Benitez is right for the job. He may be good at knock-out competitions but not the Premier League. It's obvious he has NOT learnt from past mistakes by rotating players. He keeps using internationals as excuses. Shankly and Paisley picked a regular team despite internationals and look what they achieved. More rotations and he MUST go.

robbie keane 20 million, ryan babel on the bench again, lucas and masc in middle with no forward passes, whats wrong with giving young pachecho a chance in these games or nemeth,as we are missing chances and losing points that could have us well clear if they were taken,i know weve had a good start and all this bull about stevie being missing means we are a 1 man team but we were at home to fulham and thats two bad home draws

By smithy. Posted November 23 2008 at 10:55 PM.

i think people should get off rafas back it took manure 25 years to win the league again you can only buy players with a amount of money the owners give thats football you take a chance sometimes it works sometimes it dosent dossena was a good player in italy some players find it hard to adjust we should support him while he is here as for rafa when the yanks go we will be alright a load of broken promises thats all bye bye.

Rafa goes... Torres goes. The only reason Fernando is there is because of Benitez. You would find a lot of the Spanish contingent leaving Anfeild.

By Luke Stone. Posted November 23 2008 at 10:06 PM.

Well said paul Barnes,
I have total faith in Rafa.....we should back him all the way, and yes everyone makes mistakes, so Rafa got it wrong with his selection....for sure the man is just human, It's down to the two Cowboys for this delay with Rafa's Contract, He loves LFC and if he does go it would be the worst outcome for Liverpool ...i hope he stays for ever.Get rid of Dossena he is waste of time.

I think Benitez would love a move to Madrid, But i also think Benitez would never leave liverpool untill they won the PL. If he did he would forever be thinking 'What if i just stayed one more season'. Therefor my prediction is, Benitez will be manager of Real in the near future. I think Once liverpool sort out their full backs it will take a season or 2 for them to finally win it, and Adios Benitez!

RAFA SHOULD GO TO REAL MADRID.
HE WILL NEVER WILL WIN THE LEAGUE WITH LFC.

BRING JOSE MURHINO AND WE WILL START WINNING

By ASHWIN. Posted November 23 2008 at 5:53 PM.

Nic, what a silly comment. Man city only came ino "all this money" when the transfer window closed. How can it make a difference, when they have not had time to spend it yet? As for Rafa, I think the owners will be gone soon, as their money problems get worse. If he doesn't win the league this year though, i don't think anyone will care if rafa goes. He messed up yesterday big style.

By damo. Posted November 23 2008 at 5:13 PM.

americans will go " after rafa walks he spat his dummy out at valencia he will do the same " as spanish people seem 2 do.! then roy keane as manager? sounds good he doin a great job at sunderland "

By t cooper. Posted November 23 2008 at 3:02 PM.

Rafa is going to stay at Liverpool, even if the owners don't offer him the contract he wants before january, and plus there going to sell up the americans and whoever comes in will offer rafa a new contract

By Martin Hunt. Posted November 23 2008 at 1:51 PM.

Benitez will never leave liverpool having regected real madrid twice alredy and he has a titlerace on at the moment he wont leave , he is signing a new liverpool deal hopefully he will stay at the kop for years too come

feeling sorry for man c they come into all this money and still carnt get into the top 4 how scary :S

To be honest, I think he's taken 'Lucky Liverpool' as far as they can go. Bring someone in that brings fear into the team, at the moment Pool is a pussbag team.

i can not see why liverpools owners have not secured benitez to a lengthy contract and if he does go to madrid they have only themselves to blame...as for him being condemned for yesterdays dismal 0-0 with fulham is a complete farce wasn't it only a few weeks ago he was greatest manager in the world when his liverpool side went to stamford bridge and won!! i think madrid should go for sir alex, maybe then ronaldo will get his "dream" move to spain.

This just emphasises the need to keep half-witted US coca cola trained business buffoons away from football. After presiding over a global financial catastrophe, they continue to prove their inability to be able to understand business concepts other than a big mac. RBS showed the same lack of judgement by lending them money in the first place. GO HOME!

Rafa really needs to sort out this tinkering before even ill lose faith. Yesterday against Fulham was a joke - Every Liverpool fan ive spoken to, let me repharse that, every football fan i spoke to yesterday did not understand the decsion to drop Alonso. Lucas is not good enough. Pure and simple. Gerrard was out, so the obvious thing would be for Alonso and Masch to play, considering Alonso has been our best player. Lucas brings absolutely nothing to the team. Not special at breaking up the play as is Masch, not special in attack as Gerrard and cannot pass like Alonso. So can someone please tell me what he brings the team. Yesterday if Alonso had started, we would have won. Hopefully next week when Gerrard returns, he can partner Torres up front as I think Keane deserves to lose his place. Stick with Alonso and Masch in the middle. Alonso makes the team tick. Also Dossena has to be the worst left in Liverpool history. We need a proper left back with pace.

get of rafa's back! the man has came in and changed the whole club for the good ,we were stuck in a rut. back hm in the market, the yanks the real culprits! and as for dossena i agree he is useless but what bout agger and skretel ,got them for peanuts! rafa deserves praise not flak!

By paul barnes. Posted November 23 2008 at 10:24 AM.

leave him alone get the job done and bring back the permiership to anfield where it belongs. get off rafa back and he will not return to madrid

By Benitez biggest supporter. Posted November 23 2008 at 10:44 AM.

rafa will go home " & when he does guess who will follow? gerrard" & i don"t blame steven if he does different country with his lovely wife & kids ,

By t cooper . Posted November 23 2008 at 10:15 AM.

The problem is that at Madrid he will not be the one making the transfer decisions. That was why he left Valencia. What keeps him at Liverpool is the freedom he has. He's the boss. He knows he'll be there as long as he wants.
Also, at Madrid, a couple of bad results and you're out. Being the coach at Real Madrid is not a steady job. In the last 7 years it's been almost a coach a season.

Oh, and his wife and daughter like living on Merseyside for some strange reason.

Rafa Benitez should go 'home' to Real Madrid as his tactics are more suited to the Spanish Liga than they are to the Premier League. Liverpool will not win the league under him; he should have walked out on LFC when Hicks & Co offered his job to Klinsman as his position was untenable then and ever since. His team selection and tactics aganst Fulham yesterday was a joke and we lost a terrific opportunity to go to the top the league, A lonso should have been on since the start especially with Gerrard being out. I like Rafa but he does frustrate a lot of the fans with his negative tactics and continual tinkering and rotation of the team. He will never have a consistent winning team as he has still not sussed the job out. Some of his transfer dealings have been ill advised and show a lack of judgement eg; Dossena cost us £7m and he does not look worth £7.00 he would not get a game in the Sunday League.

'remains vulnerable to a big-money approach'.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha. You really are desperate to destabilise this man and the club aren't you?
