And that has cranked up the uncertainty about the future of the striker at Manchester United.
Tevez met the new Argentine boss just over a week ago and Maradona's message contained a warning.
He told Tevez that he is concerned about his lack of regular action as he prepares to revive Argentina's World Cup qualifying campaign.
Tevez has slipped down the pecking order since Dimitar Berbatov's arrival at Old Trafford and despite boss Sir Alex Ferguson's reassurances, he is still concerned about his future. Real Madrid have targeted him but are unlikely to get him during the January transfer window as a replacement for the injured Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Real have now made a move for Ajax striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
Tevez looks certain to remain at United at least until next summer, with talks about turning his two-year loan into a £30million permanent switch dragging on.
With Manchester City watching the situation, the striker will need to be convinced he figures in Fergie's plans to secure his international future.

what is all the aggrovation over, Berbatov is a world class striker and so is Tevez. the only player who has not played to his full potential is Rooney.
when he came we compared him to Ronaldo from brazil and also Pele. what has he done since coming over from Everton that we compare him to these footballing Greats. if any anyone should suffer and keep the bench warm it should be him, not Tevez or Berbatov.

If you new anything about football you would know that berbs is not lazy. That is his style of play when he gets the ball he nearly always makes something happen the same as cantona used to do and just like ronaldhinio used to do at barcalona. you dont have to run about all over the place to be a good player.

I agree Tevez is better as an all round player
Berba is lazy and constantly drifts in and out of the game. I wont pay half of what United paid for him, to be honest!

In my opinion Tevez and Berba are both quality players, But only Sir Alex knows the team plan, and because they are 2 different players Fergie will have to choose the best for his team plan.
Personally i think Tevez is the man to keep, but will Fergie chuck out the new man?
