SPURS star Wilson Palacios has admitted he almost quit football after his kid brother was murdered.

He was devastated when police found Edwin's body in May this year.

Edwin was just 16 when kidnapped back home in Honduras in October 2007.

And even though his big brother paid the £125,000 ransom, he was never seen again.

Cops dug up Edwin's remains in a mountain area of Honduras after two jailed gang members admitted to the murder and told investigators where he was buried.

Palacios, who joined Tottenham from Wigan in January for £12m, was allowed to miss the last three games of last season following the discovery.

And the 25-year-old admitted: "I was really thinking of giving up football altogether.

"My brother's always in my thoughts; when I go out on the pitch, in training, when I do anything.

"He is an inspiration for me to carry on, he drives me forward.

"Edwin was a footballer, too. He would have wanted me to keep on playing, as did my family. They helped me make the decision."

Palacios' courage has been rewarded as he helped Honduras to the World Cup finals.

He added: "The people of Honduras are still partying and everyone is so excited about next summer.

"It makes me proud to be part of something which is bringing joy and happiness to my country."

I agree that he is a class act and feel for him for the loss of his brother. Very pleased he is fired up to play.
