SUNDERLAND and Chelsea are among the favourites to sign Middlesbrough ace Adam Johnson in January.

The England Under-21 winger is out of contract in the summer.

Boro may decide to cash in rather than pick up compensation at the end of the season.

Johnson, 22, said: "It's flattering big clubs have shown an interest."
