'AVE IT!: Arsenal's wind-up for Spurs fans

GUNNERS' SPURS WIND-UP

DVD: Spurs are mocked
DVD: Spurs are mocked
THAT'S what 'Ave It! loves, a really nicely executed wind-up.

So hats off to the Arsenal fans quick out of the blocks and determined to rub salt in Tottenham's wounds after last weekend's derby day victory at Emirates Stadium.

The mock DVD is entitled '42 mins..a commemorative DVD celebrating the first 42 minutes against Arsenal'. That was until Robin van Persie and Cesc Fabregas struck in quick succession and is a reference to Spurs bringing out an official DVD to 'celebrate' their 4-4 draw last season and win against a weakened Gunners side in the Carling Cup semi-finals.

Here's the perfect stocking filler to go alongside Hull City's '101 Great Premier League throw-ins'.

ALONSO'S BLACKOUT

LIVERPOOL fans are asking if Xabi Alonso's farewell letter to the Kop has been placed in a time capsule to be opened in 50 years time.

But it wasn't just a letter wishing the club well which was blocked by senior club officials in the aftermath of Alonso's move to Real Madrid.

A highlights package of his great moments in red was to be aired on club TV until another order stopped the broadcast.

FAB ALL CUT UP

IT'S an age old question ... but does four millimetres really make a difference?

To Fabio Capello it does. And he will no doubt be dismayed to hear that FIFA are insisting that the grass on World Cup pitches is 22mm high - a staggering four millimetres above the height insisted on by the Italian in discussions with the Wembley groundsman.

WHAT'S IN A NAME?

ANYONE fancy dreaming up another name for the Emirates Stadium? The Arsene Wenger Stadium perhaps?

That is what the organisers of the World Cup 2018 bid will have to do. FIFA forbid commercially-named stadia - Coca Cola Park in Johnannesburg will have to revert to Ellis Park for World Cup 2010 - and therefore Arsenal's Emirates Stadium will have to be renamed for the possible staging of World Cup 2018 games.

FIGUEROA CAN PARK THE BUS

IF WIGAN plan to park the bus in front of goal against Fulham today, one their top defenders could be just the man for the job.

Maynor Figueroa's dad Rafael runs a transport company which owns buses in his native Honduras.

Rafael revealed: "Maynor used to help with the mechanics.

"In fact, sometimes when he comes home, he goes out and drives the bus with all the passengers on it. He hasn't forgotten our way of life."

THOR'S CROSS

KING'S CROSS may be undergoing one of the most expensive facelifts in history.

But it still wasn't good enough for Icelandic FA chief Geir Thorsteinsson on Wednesday.

Facing mounting debts, the penny- pinching English FA ducked out of booking the usual Hilton in Islington for the UEFA delegate at Arsenal's game. Instead, they booked a horrified Thorsteinsson into the red light district's Holiday Inn.

SWP THE DJ IS PAN-NED

SHAUN WRIGHT-PHILLIPS took to the decks last weekend as the Manchester City boys enjoyed a night out at Alderley Edge's new Panacea club.

But, according to 'Ave It! reports, the pint-sized winger had a bit of a clanger.

One reveller pointed out: "Really nice club, shame about the tunes."

I know it's winding back the clock to a run of the mill boredom coversation...but if the Arsenalisation continues at AB - shouldn't they bring back the clock....PITCH SIDE?

The Emirates could just be referred to by it's proper name, "Ashburton Grove".

The Emirates Stadium is also known as Ashburton Grove.
Am I the only one who thinks that said stadium is a rather soulless shrine to grey concrete? Inside it looks neat and tidy, but outside it is largely awful. Give it fifteen-twenty years and the Emirates will be viewed as a rather hideous eyesore.

re: the Emirates Stadium story, I believe this is officially the case in the Champions League as well? My understanding is that the Emirates Stadium simply becomes referred to as Arsenal Stadium, same as Highbury was also known.
