The Croatian playmaker has missed most of the season so far after breaking a leg against Birmingham at the end of August.
He was hoping to resume training and declare his fitness for the match against Sunderland next Saturday after getting the all-clear from specialists.
But Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admits that Modric is still feeling pain in his leg and did not feel comfortable in training last week.
With England playing Brazil in Qatar on November 14, Modric is hoping that the enforced Premier League break will give him the time to prepare for a comeback against Wigan on November 22.
Redknapp said: "It's not a setback. The international break gives him another two weeks to get fit."

Please stop saying that Defoe is one of our best players, that is embarrassing. He is totally average. He had a purple patch granted but he can't do it against the top teams, when the game is tight. He is permanently offside and when under pressure drags the ball across goal and easily out muscled.
We will not be challenging anyone while we pin our hopes on him

Corluka Woodgate Bassong Ekotto
Lennon Palacios Modric
Crouch Keane Defoe

I agree with some of the above points about Arsenal outclassing us at the emirates a couple of weeks ago but we were without arguably are 3 most dangerous players, Modric, lennon and Defoe.
Would Arsenal look so good without Fabregas,Van persie and Arshavin?

As a 50 year Spurs fan I have to agree that the Spurs team isn't a patch on Arsenal. There isn't a single great player in our squad while there are 2 or 3 in Arsenal's. That doesn't mean we can't finish in the top 4 if we play to our strengths and play our socks off every game. We are probably about on the level of teams like Villa but we have more potential - and more money. But let's keep the boasting until we have actually achieved something. In the long term Spurs have more potential than Arsenal and we just have to be patient and wait till Wenger retires - or quotas for foreign players come in.

There is one thing going to sort the good from the cheats and its the new drug testing has finally been excepted and when we pick a team to try and win the world cup it wont be players cheating and we will win the world cup if Capellow picks players that can create things from nothing .I make no apologizes for picking Tom Huddlestone when he came on and we were feeding of scraps he created more than others did in the whole match and is a sad reflection on capellow that he ha dent got the seance to see this in training

it just shows a month is a long time in football wasent this the same arsenal that got man city being talked about has possible champions .When the walloped them 4-0 and havent they had a run of bad results losing a two goal lead to a tired Fulham outfit and drawing a blank at Birmingham. Arsenal fans should now when the new drug testing comes into play they could start playing badly and the better squads like spurs could fly up the league i cant wait for the energy robots to slow down.

Your reserves that night? Gallas, Fabregas, Adebeyor, Clichy....... Don't make me laugh

What jokers some of these Spurs fans are. It's 10 years since you beat us in the league and 10 years of Champions League football under Arsenal's belt. Even beating us once doesn't mean you assume superiority (you made that mistake with the Carling Cup win against our reserves two seasons back). You rightly came close with Martin Jol's team that was pipped on the last day of the season, and that remains the nearest you've come to any sort of superiority. For what it's worth the current side isn't a patch on that one, so try being realists for a change.

This year, the blues are getting more stronger than what I know them before,so the bluess have great chance to win Next to Gunners and Man united.

A bit of common sense from Liverpool suppprter but the goons won't win the league. It will be the same boring Manu I guess. The goons were a 2 man team yesterday, even taking off the ineffective russian.
And let's not count walcott as a great player, he's average and always injured.
With Lennon , Luka and JD (still angry at you JD as you really cost us 6 points!) yesterday wouldn't have happened, we know that.
Nice to see stewards took the moron behind Harry to task. Shame the police and stewards weren't bothered about all the coins being lobbed at us from the goon idiots above!

From reading everyone comments I have the following to say. Walcott isn't one of Arsenals top 3 players - There are plenty better, I'd go with Fabregas, Van Persie and Arshavin.
Yes Defoe is Spurs best player and I hope you've always thought that cos I know some idiots that would have said a few years ago that he is always on the bench and therefore not that good.
Arsenal will probably win the league but Man United are the main rivals. Chelsea have a great chance and Liverpool have none.

We need our top players playing and playing well if we are to beat the top teams, simple as. The Ar5ena1 defeat shows we are still not good enough in midfield. Jenas and Huddlestone just not good enough. needs to be sorted in January if we are to challenge for honours.
Sort it Harry !!!!!

But weren't the spuds' first team aswell as the team depth much better than that of the Arsenal???
Using the pitiful excuse of having your best players out doesn't cut the mustard, so grow a pair and admit you lot will never be on the same par as the mighty Arsenal.
By Mashed Spuds. Posted November 1 2009 at 10:01 AM.
agreed your team would be better for those players playing but we were missing Theo, Rosicky and Nasri has only just returned and didn't feature in the game either.. poor little scummers just have faith as u will beat us in a game sometime in the future but will forever be in our shadow!
By mick. Posted November 1 2009 at 9:24 AM.
I just wanted to say
I HATE ARSENAL
By andy. Posted November 1 2009 at 9:24 AM.
chelsea is favourite to title this season..no doubt
By mike. Posted November 1 2009 at 9:15 AM.
Please!! Our best 3 players were missing. Defoe, Modric, Lenon
You had two of your top 3 playing
Take away your top 3 players...Fabergas, Van persie, And Walcott...what do you think would have happened?
That's right an arsenal loss!!!
Not to mention our injured defenders
