MASCHERANO NOT INTERESTED IN NEW DEAL

More question marks over Argentinian's future

JAVIER MASCHERANO has told Liverpool he's not interested in a new contract.

In a move which raises further doubts over the midfielder's long-term future at the club, he dismissed claims money was the root of his wish to join Barcelona last summer.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is desperate to thrash out fresh terms with the midfielder to prevent a renewed bid from the Spanish giants.

He rejected their £30m swoop after Mascherano stunned The Kop and asked to leave in June.

Anfield officials were convinced he was angling for a £90k-a-week deal, but Mascherano hit back. He said: "This is not true.

"I have never asked for a new contract. I already have a contract with Liverpool. I don't play for the money.

"I play for me and to win things. Money is not important to me.

"Obviously I will not play for free but why should I?"

sometimes in life you have to move on, he always plays with commitment and has been a great player for liverpool. but if he wants to try a new something new and the money is good he should go.

Sounds like he aint commited to liverpool i guess it explains some of the poor performances from him, come end of the season if rafa is still there liverpool need a big shake up of the squad and sell the **** that floods liverpools squad with the bad performances they are giving week in week out.

let him go, only if yaya toure was part of the deal though. then we have a ready made replacement and hopefully £20 million in the transfer kitty!

Elnino, where does it state that he wishes to win things?
It doesnt..he mentions how he is here to win things and that money is of no importance to him..thats great! Thats great because it shows how he isnt simply here to `show up` like the rest of them,he plays to win, which Liverpool need more of in my opinion,Rafa out too his time is up.

Masch your performance this season has been disastrous...u'll go to Barca only if we get 30-35m for u!

By elnino. Posted October 25 2009 at 6:36 AM.

Why keep a player who wants to leave? Get 30m for him, although that'll be hard considering his lame performances this season. We don't need anyone who doesn't want to play for us, simple as that.
