HASSELBAINK TURNS DOWN PORTSMOUTH

FORMER Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has turned down the chance to join Portsmouth as assistant manager.

Hasselbaink was the surprise choice at the Premier League strugglers after Gary McAllister decided not to join Paul Hart.

The ex-Holland international completed his UEFA ProLicence with old Chelsea team-mate Gianfranco Zola last summer.

Hasselbaink, 37, has always had coaching ambitions but is cautious about his first role on the training field.

Pompey boss Hart is under mounting pressure after the club's latest bizarre takeover and is fighting to keep his job.

His tenuous position put Hasselbaink off and he has decided to wait for an opportunity elsewhere.

Give the guy some credit he has had to work with both hands behind his back, I can't see many of the other premier managers working under those conditions, back the guy to get us out of this mess don't sack him .

They have a solution withing the club and there is no better choice than former Chelsea manager Avram Grant. He is the best high profile manager to take them foward and i have no clue why they waste another day to appoint him.He must be appointed immidiately and yes ,the current manager can be his assisstend if they see value in him.

They should try and get current Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe, Bristol Rovers' Paul Trollope or the Exeter manager Paul Tisdale to be Hart's number 2. It would be more long term plan but they'd all get a good education in top level football and from one of the most underrated coaches in the game. And you often learn most in difficult situations.
