Spanish giants plan £16m summer swoop for Arsenal star
ARSENAL defender Gael Clichy is a £16million target for Real Madrid.
The Frenchman's representatives have been contacted by the Spanish giants with a view to a deal next summer.
Clichy, 24, who signed a four-year contract in 2008, has been a regular for the Gunners in their impressive start to the season.
But boss Arsene Wenger has high hopes for Kieran Gibbs after the England Under-21 international finished last term strongly when Clichy was injured.
Real have major problems at left-back after former Liverpool defender Alvaro Arbeloa got injured and Royston Drenthe and Marcelo failed to shine as stand-ins.
The Spaniards have not ruled out trying to get Clichy in January.
And the French international said: "At the moment, I am focused on Arsenal and France.
"This season could be very important to me and I desire to be focused in my work. The summer of 2010 is still very far away."

G clichy got to learn from the great footballer in likes of P.vieira,H.thiery,A.reyes,A.Hleb and more worse is the tender age of M.flamin whose soccer dream has been put into balance due to the low standard of Ac Milan team that dont av any sign of winning any silverware but might be relagated,he cant afford automatic call up by France team,HLEB is regrating because of his playing ambition being thrown into thin air,Gclichy n Cech u might be next on wire,plz u r great fballers be patient n know what future has 4 u.watch icons like Giggs n Raul

GC is a world class defender who can cover up really well at the back for William Gallas and others when he's at his best. Dont be fooled to sell him. Its too early.

Arsenal won't go anywhere if you sell in Jan, and not replace them . Please sell that 6"3 long dude and please Wenger dont tamper with the defenders, if you sell clinch that show you are ready to sell cech too.

I rate clichy highly and to me better than cole.Please, dont even think of letting him go.We love you clichy, gooners for life.Let Madrid for once groom from their own.We are not a nursary for Madrid and or barca.go to hell..............

We need to keep our top class young players especially as Clichy has plenty of experience.He is also a 100% Gooner and it would be a terrible loss even if Gibbs is waiting in the wings.We have the makings of a fine team and Clichy is an integral part of that future.Real Madrid can go and poach elsewhere!!

Traore is not a defender. He leaks terribly that's why Arsene has pushed Gibbs ahead of him. He has never played a full 90 minutes at left back before. He always flops at LB and get replaced.
Traore also hasn't got enough skills to play at LM or LW. With Gibbs developing and Arsene's determination to help Gibbs succeed, I can't see Traore remaining at the club for another two seasons.

Arsenal needs veteran inorder to win cup, as gael is about to become an Arsenal experienced player mybe he can help us. for one to win champions league you need teams veteran not little Gibbs he cn't even handle man utd.

I hope Clichy doesnt go cos i really rate him as a player and i like him at Arsenal, but if he does go it wont be that much of a problem as we have Gibbs (who was outstanding end of last season and has been doing well for England U21) and Traore!
i dont know what it is but we seem to have a conveyor belt for left backs at Arsenal, we have had Cole, Clichy, now Gibbs and Traore, and all 4 are very similar to each other aswell, they all like to get forward and can do that just as well as they can defend!
