BLACK CATS EYE JOSE ENRIQUE

Steve Bruce believes Toon's Spaniard now good enough for the Prem

 Jose Enrique
WANTED - Jose Enrique

STEVE BRUCE plans to raid North East neighbours Newcastle in January for left-back Jose Enrique.

The Sunderland chief has been impressed with the 23-year-old's steady performances for the Magpies this term.

And he believes the Spaniard has now adapted to the English game well enough to be a force in the Premier League with his Black Cats.

Enrique struggled when he first arrived from Villarreal as a 20-year-old in a £6.3million deal during Sam Allardyce's time as Newcastle boss.

But Big Sam always insisted the defender would take time to get used to the pace of the English game.

And his prediction has proved right with the former Spain Under-21 player showing real quality for the Championship leaders.

I live in Sunderland. Can you tell me who Newcastle are? I have heard of Sunderland cos they are in the Premiership and have a great stadium that you don't need a telescope to see the play. Tell me are Newcastle in the Premiership? Please tell me cos I would like to know. By the way if that joker is from Thialand I'm a barcode supporter.

It is Quite amusing reading the comments of the inhabitants of Clartiecastle on toon. For the first time in their disloyal history they are recording a decent gate. Why because they are top of the league.Ask yourselves how many would be turning up if they had been relegated.not once but twice as the worst team ever like Sunderland a few seasons ago.Welsh Magpie is as deluded as the Clarties. Not got a Welsh team to support.

steve thompson you(NewCafuffle) think that *IF* you get promoted you will snap your fingers and Daren Bent and Steve Bruce will leave a club with genuine ambition that are going places to join the Joker in the pack. Well ok *IF* Mike Ashley could afford them(which he can't) or even *IF* he could(he wouldn't anyway, he just pockets your gate reciepts while trying to sell the club whilst selling any good players you had/have)do you think they would take a gamble on a club that will at very very best scrape survival in the Premier Leauge(*IF* they manage to make it).

This blinkered arrogence is very very amusing looking in from the outside but the sad thing is I believe a lot of you actually believe the rubbish you constantly spout. You lot really cast a bad light on the North Easts intelligence! Good luck with all the *IF*'s ROFL

I'd be suprised if Bruce moved for Enrique as he's a lot worse than their current left back. He never proved himself in Prem and is one of the reasons that Newcastle are where they are. As for Sunderland being a smaller club, well, from where I am standing as a neutral they are the NE's top club, play in the prem and are well run with a large respected support. Newcastle are a laughing stock playing in a poor league and the posts on here confirm that their fans are as deluded as ever. I cant see Bruce being tempted to join a shambles like Newcastle, in fact I believe that the has turned them down on a number of occasions. I'm old enough to remember when Newcastle got gates of 12,000 (it wasnt that long ago either!) so the geordies on here are either very young or are suffering from acute memory loss!!

By welsh magpie. Posted October 11 2009 at 7:46 PM.

Dont think so he has turned you lot down twice and for the idiot who said we had no support when we were in the championship our average crowds were above 35,000 so not far off you and we were never top until the last few games. Any inteligant football fan can see the power has changed in the North East we now have the best stadium, best facilities, less debt and more money than you so just take it on the chin it will be many years before you can get to our level never mind though its about time lol

You Americans just do not get it and never will. What on earth is wrong with ten year old schoolgirls wanting to have a nicer dress.I bet my dress is much nicer than yours.

This page of comments reads like a bunch of ten year old schoolgirls arguing over who has the best dress on.

All this my dad is bigger than your dad,is silly.Everything in football as in life is cyclical.Sunderland are ahead in most areas biggest ever gate most times champions of England and most loyal fans.Check out Sunday Sun about ten years ago. They went back over one hundred years not twenty years. The result was Mackems most loyal Smoggies second and sad Geordies third.Read it and weep you young Keeganites.

8th in the league after 8 games and sunderland fans think there european champions we,ll see where u r at the end of the season replacing us in the so called fizzy pop league liverpool will stuff u on saturday

By welsh magpie. Posted October 11 2009 at 5:44 PM.

There's nothing bitter about the Mugs (sic), sorry Mags. Even a dose of the Championship hasn't dulled their sense of arrogance.

It's a shame, because some humility is long overdue from them.

By JR. Posted October 11 2009 at 4:08 PM.

As a Newcastle no players from PL will want to join a Yo-Yo Club like Newcastle, as soon as we go up we will come back down again to the fizzy pop lge, Sunderland will be the best club in the north east for the next ten years, and Newcastle will be lucky to stay in PL....

By Jack McDole. Posted October 11 2009 at 2:09 PM.

What a joke. Why would he wanna go to sunderland? For the first time in nearly 20 years Sunderland are the "better" team up here and all of a sudden the mackems think they're Man Utd. When they were Championship they had no support yet we still gettin 40'000 a game. Enjoy it while it lasts lads, we'll be back bigger and better than before. HWTL

Hasn't Steve Bruce already turned Newcastle down twice?

By MackemMagic. Posted October 11 2009 at 12:13 PM.

Why does anyne care if he goes to Sunderland? He's absolutely terrible! ps I'm a Man United fan so am not taking sides but I honestly believe that Jose Enrique is terrible and would be out of his depth in thye prem for Sunderland (just as he was for Newcastle).

By Stephen Acheson. Posted October 11 2009 at 12:19 PM.

I wouldnt want his as he is a second rate full back playing in a second rate league! He was abseloutly horrendous in the premier league and is no better then George McCartney (and that's bad) Steven Thompson... bruce will go to you as soon as he gets the call? Then why has he turned that call down twice, and as for quality players.. there isnt one in the newcastle side which I would have a sunderland. Cana, Cattermole, Bent, Jones, Campbell, Malbranque, Reid, Turner, Mensah and Da Silva are much better players then your entire team! You could only wish to live up to the life that Sunderland is living at the moment, and you would be dreaming if you think you could steal any of them from us FACT!!!!!!!!!!!!

By Peter Wightman. Posted October 11 2009 at 12:11 PM.

Hahaha if the call comes he will come. Quality I choked on my toast! Bless newcastle fans at least you keep me smiling

By christian. Posted October 11 2009 at 11:37 AM.

EEEE Have you heard these absolutely sad newcastle supporters living in fairy land still. Getting off on pulling other teams down. Dosnt suprise me though cos they are the reason of newcastels demise. Fact.. Not a sunderland supporter but they have left you for dead now toon army get used to it.

By bob smith. Posted October 11 2009 at 9:35 AM.

No wonder anon is anon, just like mackem basher makes Newcastle fans look sad and bitter you anon do the same for us Sunderland fans.

Grow up lads.

By syd hutchinson. Posted October 11 2009 at 9:30 AM.

Dear mackembasher,
When will u realise that Newcastle are a pathetic shadow of the former keegan and bobby robson years. Your club has achieved nothing in over 50 years. You poor geordies need to realise there is only one top club in the north easy. One premiere league outfit represnting the area. And its not Newcastle its sunderland. Were so far ahead of u now its unreal. Steve Bruce turned the job down b4 at Newcastle cod he knows ur club is crap. Yeah you have fantastic gates. Because u still believe the keegan days will return. Dream on lads. Ur club is fickle and the laughing stock of the football league. 100million is cheap for a club ur size yet makem mike Ashley can't seem to sell. Personally I think its hillarious. U geordies seem to think its ur devine right to b a top four club. U might get ur wish this year in the fizzy pop league. So come and sign jose Enrique. Join a real club with true potential that truley are going places and let the black and white scum rot beneath us.

By anon. Posted October 11 2009 at 9:10 AM.

Would suit everyone..Enrique would not be hard to replace and it shows the calibre of player Bruce is interested in signing always Sunderland a yo-yo club with the ambition of 2nd rate who will be happy to finish near the top ten in the Premiership..Poor choice Steve

By steve thompson. Posted October 11 2009 at 8:49 AM.

yeah he's gonna go to a inferior club who will always be in ncle's shadows, one hiccup in the last 16 years doesnt make snland a better prospect, we will be back & better nxt season, could be in for bent then as he is probably the only player worthy of premier lge status nxt season, we will unload big style, then bring in top players to take us back where we belong, blessing in disguise last seasons relegation, it hurt big style but we are moving on with big strides, even in the fizzy pop lge we still command far better support than the pretenders down the road, sndland are what everton are to livpool & citeh are to manew no matter what they achieve they will always be the second class citizens to their rivals, even jos'e knows that, better still steve bruce even admits it, once a geordie always a geordie, if the call comes he will come, ITS A FACT !!!!!!!!!!
