The struggling West Country side had also conceded 40 points in their previous clash at London Irish.
And boss Redpath admitted: "We weren't good enough and we cannot hide behind it. We have all got to stick our hands up.
"I am severely disappointed. Our basics weren't good enough. I don't think Northampton had to do a huge amount to win the game. If you give basic penalties away, you are always chasing your tail."
Shane Geraghty ran the show as Saints landed only their second Premiership away win in 31 months.
Fly-half Geraghty (right) kicked 11 points while prop Soane Tonga'uiha and centre Jon Clarke scored tries. Full-back Ben Foden also shone to boost his England chances.
His Gloucester rival Olly Morgan went off with a hamstring problem while James Simpson-Daniel pulled out before kick-off due to illness.
Saints boss Jim Mallinder said: "This is a good place to win and defensively in the last 20 minutes I thought we showed a lot of spirit."
Akapusi Qera got the home try and Nicky Robinson three penalties.

I live in Germany, so the only chance i ge to see Gloucester are when they are on sky sports. So dissapointed when keeping a track on the internet to see that they are on another losing streak. The club has been going strong from 1857, over the last 2 years they just seem to be throwing there reputation and silver away.Give me strength.
