And on this form - five straight wins - Justin Morgan's side must now be seen as a serious threat to Leeds and St Helens.
So much for his hopes of sneaking in under the radar as they destroyed last Saturday's Challenge Cup victors.
Morgan said: "I asked for a professional peformance and we got that.
"It was always going to be difficult for Warrington after the highs of last week but they came to play and they are a hard pack to pay against.
"But I thought we handled it well and I'm very proud to come through it so convinincingly and with 40 points.
"I though Newton was excellent with his three tries.
"We still need to improve. Their first couple of tries came off poor decisions from us and an error led to their final try.
"We cannot afford to allow 16 points to be scored against us, so we need to sort that out.
"Our form is okay but it's not blistering. I do not think we are firing on all cylinders yet. We have got some issues to work on."
Wolves probably shocked them with their gutsy start, with most fans expecting them to fall flat after their Wembley celebrations.
But Rovers held their nerve and every time Wolves scored, they slapped them back into place with a try of their own.

Mickey Higham's sixth minute opener from stand-off for Wolves was quickly followed by a superb 20- metre charge to the line from Rovers' Jake Webster.
Tyrone McCarthy put Wolves ahead again with his debut try. But again Rovers hit back within three minutes, this time after Paul Cooke broke a Ben Westwood tackle.
That left Rovers two points adrift, but they were soon ahead when Newton charged past Louis Anderson 40m out and ignored his quicker team-mates to race to the line.
It was a brilliant effort, and it set up Rovers to romp home.
SCORERS - Hull KR: tries Newton 3, Webster, Cooke, Welham, Fox; goals Dobson 6. Warrington: tries Higham, McCarthy, Hicks; goals Briers 2.
