The British ace is looking to get his title bid back on track in Valencia this afternoon after going three races without a win.
But all Button cares about is bagging the drivers' crown even if the battle goes down to Abu Dhabi in November.
The Brawn GP racer, 28, said: "I don't care if I don't win another race. The main goal for any driver is to win the championship.
"That's all I am thinking about now. For any driver if he doesn't win a race that season I am sure he would think it would have been nice to to have done so, but who would care.
"You have just won the World Championship. That's your main goal in your F1 career. The pinnacle of motorsport. Most people will forget that you didn't win a race."
But Button last night hit back at claims he had it too easy at the start of the championship.
Button roared to victory in six of the opening seven races having managed just one win in his previous eight seasons.
That led some of his critics to claim he was only winning because the BGP 001 car was far superior to its rivals. But Button insists that apart from his runaway win at the season opener in Australia last March he has had to fight for his successes. Button blasted: "I do this for myself. People's opinions are important for sure and I suppose if people see a fight it is more exciting and that's what they have got.
"Maybe people who don't know the sport will say the first six of the seven races were a walk in the park.
"But people that are involved know they weren't. And for sure now whoever wins the championship will have had it tough. It is made more difficult by the Ferraris and McLarens having the KERS energy boost button. If a non KERS car wins in Italy next month then I will be very impressed."
Button is just seven races from title glory.
The Frome flier heads into this afternoon's European Grand Prix with an 18.5 point lead over the Red Bull of Mark Webber with Sebastian Vettel 23 points adrift.
He added: "I have never known a championship like this. It's unique. Crazy.
"It is the Red Bulls and us who are fighting for the championship, but we now have two Ferraris and two McLarens that are going to be around us on the start and have a very good opportunity to get past us.
"It makes our strategy so so difficult. The best way is just to be the quickest. That's my aim.
"I can't wait to get back racing, but having a holiday was so important. You need a break.
"If you are thinking about it all the time you are not relaxed, you can get stressed and it can drive you mad. So it was nice not to think about racing for a little while."

Though I have to agree that the Brawn car was way ahead of all the other manufacturers with their diffusers, a bit of a mismatch really, you have to give credit where it's due. It's not Jensons fault the other manufacturers were so slack in their development. Hope he wins the championship.
The real test begins next season with Hamilton in the right set up and Alonso in a Ferrari. Can't wait. Wish Massa a speedy recovery to be amongst the boys as well..
