DEAN RICHARDS has quit as Harlequins boss over the 'blood-in-the-mouth' scandal and the club could now be booted out of next season's Heineken Cup.
England legend Deano resigned after telling an inquiry he had known Tom Williams intended to fake a facial injury in last season's quarter-final.
European rugby chiefs last month found wing Williams guilty of acting alone in taking a blood capsule on to the field and banned him for a year.
Richards was cleared of any wrong- doing along with team doctor Wendy Chapman and physio Steph Brennan. But they can expect bans after European Rugby Cup officials appealed against the original decision.
Quins are likely to be kicked out of next year's competition with Wasps set to replace them.
Williams could have his ban cut after Quins launched an appeal.

It was Dean Richards who asked him to lie, so it is right that he has fallen on his sword and departed. Cheats should never prosper
