PATRICE EVRA claims Cristiano Ronaldo is already the forgotten man of Manchester United.

The left-back insists his former United team-mate - now at Real Madrid after an £80million switch - was just one of a number of stars at Old Trafford.

Evra, 28, said: "It is important to be clear that Ronaldo did not make Manchester United.

"Ronaldo was never the star at Manchester United. We are ALL stars and the boss would never let any one person believe he is the star.

"He was a good player for us and a very important one. But Manchester United was Manchester United before him and it is still Manchester United after him.

"He didn't make our team, we are all winners. We lost two of them this summer in Carlos Tevez and Ronaldo, but we have added others like Michael Owen."

Frenchman Evra claims United are on the verge of something special again as they aim to move clear of Liverpool by winning their 19th league title.

They face Chelsea in the Community Shield at Wembley today hoping to put down a marker for the new season.

Evra added: "I am confident of a good season without Carlos and Cristiano. This is the start of another special United team.

"My focus is to win the Premier League and the Champions League, but we will be looking to win the Community Shield first.

"People need to remember that the boss is the master of building new teams. Anderson and Nani will be big players in this new team."

Meanwhile, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has tipped Arsenal to be the surprise package at the top of the Premier League.

The Gunners have not won the title since 2004 and their last major trophy was their 2005 FA Cup win over United.

But Fergie said: "If Arsenal keep clear of injuries, they'll be up there challenging. Cesc Fabregas has been the architect of that team for the last three or four years. I think they'll be stronger than last season."

Evra you are all the way right ...United is United and the Sir is part of United....Players come and go...but who makes them famous before goining...its the Sir.... Just wait and see who will all those young players where they reach with United... Cantona..Beckham...Ruud..Keane..all are gone... but the trohphies are still filling Old Traford cabinet.... so let them go...there is only one Sir and one United.... One more thing...the Sir should bring his old kid (Beckham) back home and let him end his career where he belongs.

Go evra. Man u is man u. Beckham left, keane did, ruud left, remember? Fergie made a beckham from unknown ronaldo, made a keane from alan smith and made a ruud from crocky saha, trust me, he has this covered.

If SAF can instill Yaya Toure in Anderson not sit in the midfield and just move the ball from left to right, surge forward taking on players. Nani to play his game and not want copy Ronaldo because i think they have talents,With kika, Welbeck.diouf coming in soon Gibson to replace Hargraves UNITED have a chance of lifting trophies.

Well said patrice, yeah both ronaldo and tevez, were excellent players, but united have still got a very strong squad for the long hard season that lies ahead of us, which hopefully lands us our 19th title. The signings fergie has made, will all have important roles to fill, and hoping by the end of the season, we have one or two more trophies to add to the all ready massive trophy cabinet at old trafford. So starting at wembley today, by beating chelsea, lets show carlos and christiano, what there really gonna miss this season

Well Said Kid, thats what United is all about, THE TEAM.
Thats why you will collect most prizes next year.

I believe alex did not have choice in letting Ronaldo go as the boy wanted Real from his childhood dreams, and Alex put the team first, he let him go, So thats what you call a great manager, He is bad for man u with that mind set.

So great biz and they have got a great guy now running the wings, twice as fast as ronaldo, he will be more direct and owen, berb, Rooney will benefit.

It will be close but it takes a season to settle players.

Top 4 yes, here is my finnish ,
