PADRAIG HARRINGTON may have lost his Open stranglehold but he is determined to hold on to the US PGA title.

The Irishman, 37, has been dogged with swing struggles, poor form and the loss of his Open crown so far in 2009.

But Harrington insists he is ready for the PGA in Minnesota on Thursday after an eight-month stint of hard work which included remodelling his swing.

He insisted: "It's been a tough spell but I feel very positive and ready to play my best golf and win again.

"I've found what I've been looking for. I've been trying to change my downswing and tinker for the last three years but it became the priority over the last eight months.

"I've definitely got to the bottom of it. It sometimes takes full-out focus on something to really get to that stage.

"So I feel a lot happier in myself and my golf and that I will compete in majors or many years to come - starting with this one.

"I haven't had the results I wanted this year. But it only takes one win to turn it around. I've lost the Open and I don't want to lose this title.

"Winning the US PGA was fantastic and I was genuinely shocked. I want to do it again."
