LEEDS RHINOS 24,
WARRINGTON WOLVES 22

Kevin Sinfield kicks it right at the death

KEVIN SINFIELD kicked a goal with only seconds left on the clock to give Leeds a dramatic win.

Tries from Richie Mathers, and brothers Vinnie and Louis Anderson, plus three Chris Bridge goals had given Wolves an 18-8 second-half lead. Leeds were hanging in with two tries from Ryan Hall and Scott Donald, but Sinfield missed both conversion attempts.

Lunge

But a desperate lunge by Danny McGuire for a 58th-minute try gave Leeds hope, with Sinfield landing his first kick. Union-bound Lee Smith then charged his way over minutes later to level the scores at 18-18 with Sinfield again missing the goal attempt.

Mike Cooper thought he had given Warrington the win with a late try until Donald got his second try and Sinfield added the conversion

  • SCORERS - Leeds: tries Hall, Donald 2, McGuire, Smith; goals Sinfield 2. Warrington: tries Mathers, V. Anderson, L Anderson; goals Bridge 2
