MANCHESTER UNITED will tell Valencia to name their price for David Silva this week.

Although boss Sir Alex Ferguson claims United are not in the market for further signings, they are prepared to deal at the right price.

United will meet Valencia officials before Wednesday's prestige friendly at Old Trafford, but will have to pay £25million to land the Spain midfielder.

Silva's Valencia team-mate David Villa also remains on their radar, but the striker has always maintained that he wants to remain at the Mestalla.

Silva, 23, can play in a number of midfield positions, but has been used in a deep-lying role behind the main striker at Valencia.

Although Ferguson maintained during United's pre-season tour of Asia that they had finished their transfer business for the summer, they lack goals.

The United chief has challenged his team to break the 100-goal barrier once more this season and Silva can help provide them.

Villa remains a target for United and Liverpool, but Ferguson is unwilling to blow the transfer budget on a player who does not want to leave Spain.

Meanwhile, French club Le Havre say United have behaved "lamentably" in signing 15-year-old sensation Paul Pogba.

Le Havre are going to make an official complaint to FIFA.

Club president Jean-Pierre Louvel added: "I am fed up with clubs doing certain things without punishment."

I`m no Liverpool,Chelsea,City or United fan,but if u see this from outside UK it`s obvious that u need more than money to put togheter a good team.Got to have a good balance in the whole squad and Alex Ferguson has proven this over and over again. He does spend money, but u can`t just buy a team.Chelsea don`t splash money anymore, nor do Liverpool.I`m sorry but I can`t see how Man.City can make this work, you`re still the little team in Manchester-by far.Cathrine,Norway

"Never WORK alone"... What kind of Pool fan are you? Sounds like an armchair fan! But then again, wouldn't expect less from 'your' fans.

By Charlie. Posted August 2 2009 at 7:15 PM.

We are know that silva has only one destination in England which is ANFIELD.Home away from Home.NEVER WORK ALONE TILL I STOP BREATHING.

By Abayomi. Posted August 2 2009 at 5:34 PM.

are these liverpool fans being serious! why wud any1 want to go to liverpool they have not won 1 premiership. I think utd squad at the moment is gd enough to make it 4 in a row.

By Chris Connolly. Posted August 2 2009 at 4:03 PM.

Typical scousers on here as usual- clueless talk from the lot of you.

I think silva is the best option for the left wing long term and he is at a good age and united would not have to pay through the roof for him.

As for all the scousers talking about united rejects.... how about yours...voronin , dossena , kewell, traore , keane , biscan .... the only 2 decent players you have paid money for in the past 10 years would be torres and alonso and maybe mad mascherano.

And as for city fans ....... Learn to crawl b4 you can walk... let alone run!!

By John. Posted August 2 2009 at 3:45 PM.

terry harper you are the biggest clown i have came across in a long time

Man City fans are dreaming if they think there team is going to win the league, lol adebayor is shocking he misses so many chances and robinho probably the most overrated player in the world putting him in your team is like playing with 10 men for most of the game as ha goes missing far to often.

By karl Samsung. Posted August 2 2009 at 3:33 PM.

If anyone knows football here its me, p-leaseeee.
Utd haven't a chance of signing Silva, he'd snub them in an instance, much rather come to Anfield and partner with his Spanish team-mates.
David Villa to, iv heard Torres will ask him to play alongside him at Liverpool, where we will win all titles and be the best in the Universe.

By Thomas Carter . Posted August 2 2009 at 3:09 PM.

united need serna ribery silva

By ronaldo. Posted August 2 2009 at 2:33 PM.

I love the way Liverpool fans are so delusional in thinking that all Spanish players automatically want to move there. Laaa.

Silva and Villa will both stay at Valencia.

By sg. Posted August 2 2009 at 2:30 PM.

i would lik villa coming to OT but i cant see man u having owen villa rooney nd berbatov.... who'll start? itll make them unhappy

silva wud be a gd buy but if we get ribery we'll have valencia ribery n silva who'll start

still i wudnt mind gettin dem all :P
silva n villa will make united deadly

By asif ahmed. Posted August 2 2009 at 2:23 PM.

I would like united to sign silva+ribery that will yield more than a 100 goal this season but i can't imagine david villa leaving spain.i think that is what i will call Mission Impossible.

By Leun. Posted August 2 2009 at 1:38 PM.

let stretford utd go for silva manchester city are going for GOLD

By jimmy . Posted August 2 2009 at 1:33 PM.

manure might get silva, but, david villa is on record saying he would only ever sign for Liverpool, and if Alonso does leave then manure wont get villa, we will.

By bonnythescouser. Posted August 2 2009 at 1:28 PM.

i think silva would do great in united, and if u'd get villa, then united would be really scary to play against...but silva is kinda player who would hardly leave spain...but united is united...one of the best...and villa is bad adviced, before to know if he was going to sign for barça or madrid he deny to play in england, i think he did mistake coz' in united or lvpool would succeed.
i cant wait to next season!
do u think Barça is the team to beat next season?

By jordi. Posted August 2 2009 at 1:02 PM.

hahaha! silva to utd . . . doubt that . . . and villa said in an interview that if he were to move abroad it wld only be to liverpool. . . were his friend torres is.

1st Liverpool
2nd Chelski
3rd man scum
4th city

Yes, i think is right to bring silva to old trafford with the squad we have. Because i know he can work with carrick.

Lack goals? Have we not just scored 16 goals in 5 games the last couple of weeks. Seem to be scoring more than when we were just getting 1-0 wins week in week out in our run when we didn't concede any.

By Tom. Posted August 2 2009 at 9:10 AM.

Nani has been really promising in the pre season matches so i dont think it would be fair to him to swap his place with silva; but we could use silva as attacking midfielder instead of anderson.

By Ali. Posted August 2 2009 at 8:55 AM.

NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!!!

By elnino. Posted August 2 2009 at 8:28 AM.

Forget Hughes, Carlos, Arsene and Rafa. There is only one person the football world is watching and worrying about and that's Sir Alex Ferguson!

yes get silva and villa to. fergy should make a 60-70m bid for both of the stars silva could easily bang in goals and villa is a deadly finisher.villa could get 25 rooney with 25 berbatov with 15 silva with 12 valencia 10goals and owen with 15.thats already 90 goals. park, hargreaves and carrick with another 15 and the few defenders could nab in some goals. lge table:

United only needs two players (one is defensive midfielder and the other is right-back). If there will be done, United can win all titles.

By Terry Harper. Posted August 2 2009 at 5:44 AM.

To that guy that think Silva gets homesick please shut up because you no jack. Its Jesus Navas that gets homesick you idiot.

By AG. Posted August 2 2009 at 5:00 AM.

No way are united getting 100+ goals. All you ever hear is, "he can be the next Ronaldo". Legendary players come about once in a blue moon and they have a natural born gift. Ronaldo would have been a legend without United, yet the fans seem to believe that just being at Old Trafford will make a player great. For every Man U success story there are as many flops. Any one remember Forlan, Veron... to name but a few.

By Tim B. Posted August 2 2009 at 2:41 AM.

Silva will only leave Spain to go to Liverpool, check out his background, he suffers from homesickness and will want to stay in Spain, if he has to go abroad it will be to Liverpool to be with his friends Torres, Reina & Riera

By Dave. Posted August 2 2009 at 12:57 AM.

They will tell Valenica to name their price but are only prepared to deal at the right price? Sense that no makes. I'm suprised unReal Madrid or Barcelona didn't go for him (and Villa), especially as they would strengthen their team while weakening a rival.

By John . Posted August 2 2009 at 12:37 AM.

Silva would not be interested. he will go to barca or real madrid after the world cup.

By JJ. Posted August 2 2009 at 12:09 AM.

Silva has the potential to be as good as Ronaldo.

He's played a starring role in Spain's success recently and there is still much more to come from him.

By Ric. Posted August 2 2009 at 12:03 AM.

very good signing, 25 mill seems ok for an international player, and still 23 yrs yound.
foster,brown,vid,ferd,evra
valencia,carrick,anderson,silva

i can see 100 goals in utd squad.

By alan comerford. Posted August 2 2009 at 12:00 AM.

i think silva would be a great signing and would love to get david villa aswell but thats unlikely to happen , i think we still need a defensive midfielder and a right back someone like essien and sergio ramos

By andy. Posted August 1 2009 at 11:50 PM.

i think silva would be a good signin for us, hes not ronaldo but least hes better than nani, obertan, and valencia put togetherrr, bring silva to old trafford

By josh. Posted August 1 2009 at 11:37 PM.

No way will a player who is famous for getting homesick even think of moving to a club with no Spanish presence.

By SN. Posted August 1 2009 at 11:39 PM.
