Despite intense pressure from Chelsea's hierarchy, trying to persuade their captain to commit his future to Stamford Bridge, Terry is still refusing to offer any assurances. And that has given Manchester City major hope a deal will still be done.
Terry has already asked owner Roman Abramovich for permission to speak with City several times - but that has been rejected outright on each occasion.
The club were confident the central defender would announce he had reached a decision to stay in West London during the latest leg of their US tour, however he is still far from convinced.
City have already had several bids rejected for Terry, but they are willing to wait for their man.
City boss Mark Hughes said: "John Terry is a player not at the club, who I keep having to answer questions about.

"We made a bid for a player that was rejected and that's where we stand at this moment. I said at the beginning of the window that ideally we would like to have all our signings in place for the start of the season.
"But if the right player is available and it takes until the end of the window to do the deal then so be it.
"You have to give each transfer deal the time it deserves. If you feel the process is not going to progress then you walk away."
Chelsea remain defiant and insist that Terry will be forced to honour the remaining three years left on his £135,000 a week contract.
Although the England captain has made it clear the issue is not financial - he has already had a verbal offer to increase his deal to £150,000 a week from Abramovich - he still wants the chance to talk to City.
Despite the delay in negotiations, City remain confident they can clinch a deal before the August 31 transfer deadline.

They will increase their offer for Terry if Chelsea indicate that they are prepared to listen to a new bid, but they are currently waiting for the defender to make his next move.
Terry has held several rounds of negotiations with Abramovich since their first meeting on July 11, as Chelsea still refuse to consider the prospect of losing their skipper.

As I said if RA sticks around you will be OK and your trophy count is not too impressive against other clubs....albeit better than City
The future is Blue SKY BLUE and I hope that you remain a competitive adversary for many years to come as that will surely put pressure on the Dreamers from OT
Top 4 will become top 5 and money will talk at the end of the day, as it has done for the last 15/20 years.....
look forward to meeting you in CL within the next 3 years which is not unrealistic....
By Yashin.. Posted July 26 2009 at 9:51 PM.
What's all this if Roman fooks off then you're stuffed nonsense? Chelsea were winning trophies and qualifying for the CL (twice) before Roman ever came in.
Citeh have no recent record of winning any trophies whatsoever. There lies the difference.
An Arab consortium is already trying to buy Roman out and they are worth about 200 billion but Roman loves the game and the club. He will never sell but if he did bigger more powerful owners are on standby. Citeh 9 trophies to Chelsea's 14!!!

Platini versus Abu Dhabi? Plans conceived from envy more like taking on the petro dollar? Monsieur Platini is punching well above his weight yet again and going nowhere. The "Blues" from Manchester have waited a long time for the adventure that is just starting so come on JT and jump aboard. It's going to be one hell of a ride.
Oh and Fergie. Wait for the Mancunian "Welcome" posters to run the full length of Deangate. There will be more posters than wine bars very soon.

Pete Borota
If you really believe that Platini is a threat to the Arabs then you should get a reality check...
Platini and his side kick Blatter can shout all they want about a super league and salary caps.... working within ones means etc....
How do you think he gets to work every day? OIL OIL OIL ...... Any future super league will only include the elite, and it will never happen...
The top clubs in Europe have brought this about by monopolizing domestic leagues by imposing their financial power on evert other club which has brought the inevitable downfall of some of our great clubs...including CITY in years gone by..
But us City fans are still here and look forward to the challenge that you and RB will provide over the next 10 years..
Man U and Liverpool have no funds Arsenal are struggling however I predict that Arsenal will still be up there in the next 3/4 years...
So who will eventually drop out????
If RB really wants to stick it long term then you should be OK....
By Yashin.. Posted July 26 2009 at 4:15 PM.
Yashin,
You may not be laughing for too long mate. Platini has plans to introduce a europe wide franchise system that will kick out the billionaires and in his own words reclaim football for the supporters.
Personally you will struggle to build something inside two to three years.
What you boys forget is that Chelsea were building for 10 years before RA came. It's easy to buy players but it is very difficult to gel 11 players.
I reckon you'd have won the league inside 6 years but if Platini gets his wage the Arab wedge will not matter.

Terry is so over rated let him leave for city. He's so slow gets court out for England all the time, top players go past him like hes not there. He's only going to get slower aswel. God help England in the world cup next summer. Chelsea cash in quick!
By Jon.. Posted July 26 2009 at 1:41 PM.
Silence is golden Terry to be a citizen by the time we play Celtic
By NOELY.. Posted July 26 2009 at 12:11 PM.
Terry will join City, no doubt. He's approaching 29 and this will set him and his family up for life...anyone on here who says they wouldn't do the same should go n see a quack. After all, money makes the world go round!!!!
By Bluemoon Rick.. Posted July 26 2009 at 11:49 AM.
He clearly reallly does not want to leave Chelsea he is just using city to get a pay increase at Chelsea just like lampard did only a few months ago,you can't blame him he's doing the same,Chelsea will relent and pay him probably about 200k a week and the Chelsea fans will forgive like they did Lampard,Im a wolves fan and if you think footballers are loyal to there clubs anymore, you may well as think politician are only interested in serving the people its all about the money.

I FEEL SORRY TO HEAR THAT CHELSEA TREATING TERRY AS A SLAVE. IF U HAVE CAN TELL ME A SLAVE WHO IS PAID MEGA BUCKS IN THESE UNIVERSE. THEN WHAT U CALL A PERSON WTH 100$ PER WEEK.
By FE.. Posted July 26 2009 at 11:21 AM.
well chelsea hows does it feel now,a richer club comes knocking at your door and upsets the applecart, you,d better get used to it , as the russian is starting to look a bit bored with life at chelski
By ray.. Posted July 26 2009 at 11:06 AM.
why should,nt terry move to city, chelski only treat him like a slave, how dare they only offer him 150,000 aweek, how can they expect him to live on that,he sure is a true loyal blue
By roy.. Posted July 26 2009 at 10:58 AM.
indeed, Terry has disappointed me since this noise of him going or staying has began. I respect him as Chelseas captain even i have his name on my Chelseas shirt. My personal opinion is that he should go if he wants to go. Chelsea as a team is much bigger than him and there is a replacement for him already. Its a shame that most of these footballers of nowadays are uneducated and fishbrains that cant even manage money after they are out of footballing. Shame on them! When you hear how they waste the money the clubs are paying them, i bet, you will withdraw your respect for them. Last note, Terry should go and let Chelsea start a new era without him. He is not a god but just Terry. Frank Lampard is already there to lead the club to the champions league title.
Cheers
By tomi.. Posted July 26 2009 at 10:55 AM.
Terry OUT OUT OUT. We are all sick and tired of your arrogance Terry. You are systematically bringing this club down you greedy little man. You are losing ALL respect very very quickly. You clozit Manx
By Chelsea nutter.. Posted July 26 2009 at 10:48 AM.
What goes around comes around how funny all of a sudden captain mercenary shows hes true love and its not chelski its money and chelsea deserve what they get not so funny now the boots on the other foot
By jay gooner.. Posted July 26 2009 at 10:43 AM.
John Terry i hope you read this... Your suppose to be England & Chelsea Captain.. Is this a good way to show ur loyality to a club that has stuck with you for all these years.. Never replaced you when we spent big and changed alot of the players.. Chelsea FC stuck by you and made you captain.. If u wanna go then go? Im getting sick off this now. Your making Chelsea headline news everyday and its not good for the club. So maybe it is time for you to pack ur bags and go.
By Carl UB6.. Posted July 26 2009 at 10:30 AM.
This is the same story as when abramovich took over Chelsea and threw his money around. I'm a Villa fan and lost Barry to Man City. Opposition fans now have a new target for most hated team in the premiership. Their team is 11 greedy and over rated players. Terry and a disgrace!! Chelsea should kick him out the club and hold out for as much money as they can. Not 1 player moving to Man City can say it's for playing reason!! Mark Hughes can talk up City all he wants, i can confidently say he will be unemployed within 6 months!!
By Mark.. Posted July 26 2009 at 10:21 AM.
let Terry go for £100 million, if he wants to go than fine the Club is bigger than him
By r sivyer.. Posted July 26 2009 at 10:10 AM.
Personally I find all of this quackably funny. Chelsea's arrogance is unbelievable. They have got what they deserve.. a club giving them a good financial spanking hahahahaha
By Gooner Geoff.. Posted July 26 2009 at 9:53 AM.
Surely with how long this has been going on, if Terry does decide to stay at chelsea hes not gonna have the same respect from their fans. I dont understand why city haven`t gone 4 upson aswell. He`d definately be interested and would be a hell of a load cheaper. but think with city this season its not just about bringin in better players its about weakening the big4. Which could be good 4 everton and villa.
By POSH fan.. Posted July 26 2009 at 9:23 AM.
I agree. John Terry can go and do one for all I care. We don't want his likes at this club. Just like Lampard holding out for more dollar.
BOG OFF TERRY
By Chelsea Chelsea.. Posted July 26 2009 at 9:27 AM.
Listen Terry, if you don't wanna stay with us anymore, then my message to you mate is go and do one. Get stuffed and take your pathetic little family up there wiv you. We don't want you anymore you money grabbin JUDAS clear off !
By Chelsea forever .. Posted July 26 2009 at 9:21 AM.
Terry wants to talk to city?
Fine. He has to put in a transfer request.
THen he is stripped of club captaincy.
Then Chelsea and Man City have to agree on a feee before Terry can talk. If the fee is not agreed he still cant talk to City and is dropped to the bench.
All in World cup year.
Is Terry really that stupid?
By Frank.. Posted July 26 2009 at 9:10 AM.
CFC FANS WERE LAUGHING AT RONALDO LEAVING BUT IN YOUR CASE THIS IS FAR WORSE AS HE IS THE SO CALL TRUE SPIRIT OF YOUR CLUB...HIS TRUE ALLEGIANCE IS MONEY NOT THE BADGE HE KEEPS KISSING. JUST LIKE LAMPARD HE IS HOLDING THE CLUB IN RANSOM TO GET MORE MONEY IF HE DOES NOT GET IT EXPECT HIM TO JOIN THE MERCENARY CLUB AKA THE BERTIES
By RED DEVIL.. Posted July 26 2009 at 9:09 AM.
Manchester City will not be happy until they have got John Terry. Not, I think, entirely for his own football and leadership qualities, but also for bait to poach top players form the other top four clubs. This would be devastating for them as all prices quoted to them to buy replacements with Citeh's money will be double or triple the players worth. I agree with Alex Ferguson about the damages being wrought by oil-rich owners. Well done MC!!? I think all the senior executives at Chelsea should now simply say to Citeh that they can have him for £50 million and then go away. On the down side Hughes might then consider another illegal approach - Lampard? But Terry or his agents, by their silence, have shown that that he is not Mr Chelsea through and through as he likes to think.
By Ian.. Posted July 26 2009 at 9:13 AM.
terry is a player of high caliber...losing him will be a setback for us...he has always got my respect and hope he doesnt breaks it...man city is all money...no history,no title hopes also...terry come on...come out of the silence and say to Mark Hughes,"Boss I am Mr Chelsea...Keep dreaming of signing me...I am only born to serve Chelsea"...We are waiting for your reply JT...
By Tridib.. Posted July 26 2009 at 8:57 AM.
Listen you bunch of Chelsea wingers..... If you want to soar with the Eagles, stop flapping with the Pidgeons. You have been doing what City have started to do for years. When will you ever learn the golden rule in life.....live by the gun, die by the gun. One day when the market changes (and it will), your big time backers will walk away, leaving you all with debts that will blow you all out of the game. Short term gain is long term folly !
By Paul Topliff.. Posted July 26 2009 at 8:53 AM.
I'm a Birmingham city supporter and have been for over 40 yrs,What Man City are doing is no different to what any of the top 4 have done over the past few years,Thats get in someone who is extremely rich and try to buy a title, not too long ago the press were on about how much Chelsea had spent in order to gain success. What people are forgetting is John Terry is a PROFFESIONAL he WORKS for a living,i wonder how many supporters would turn down the chance to earn more money for their families by changing jobs, not many i bet!As for captaining England, moving to Man City will not make him a worse or better player, so how would this affect his captaincy.Leave him alone he will do whats best for his family
By mark watts.. Posted July 26 2009 at 8:53 AM.
As a Chelsea fan, this is the prove that English players are the most GREEDIEST PLAYERS in the world, every summer its either Lampard or Terry carrying the bowl to Roman (Oliver Twist) "I want more, I want more" I have lived in both Germany and Italy, I have seen Bigger Legends like Totti, Maldini, Del Piero, Effenberg etc. NEVER held their clubs to Ransome, never cry because someone else earns more than them... Peter Kenyon should put JT in a canon facing Manchester and fire it...
By Ola Ray.. Posted July 26 2009 at 8:26 AM.
A couple of questions for you Chelsea fans...
1. If JT was staying at CFC why is he so quiet?
2. if there was a better deal on the table why hasnt he signed it?
3. Comment by Mark Hughes... " But if the right player is available and it takes to the end of the window to do the deal then so be it"
Looks like he will be in a SKY BLUE shirt come the end of August after all...
And yes MONEY TALKS just like it always has for the last 10-15 years I could go on naming players and transfer fees that have exceeded £25-£30 m but that would jsut be highlghting the Top 4 again..
Time for a change then!!!!!!!
By Yashin.. Posted July 26 2009 at 8:09 AM.
The supporters deserve a clear statement from JT after all the rumours. It appears he is undecided about what to do as if he wanted to stay for sure he would have stated that by now. It is disappointing and I feel this situation is fast becoming disrespectful not only to the club but also to the fans who hold him in such high esteem.
By David O.. Posted July 26 2009 at 7:57 AM.
i'm a man city fan and really hope we sign terry and toure. As for terry he's a london lad who's played and lived in london all his life i've heard he lives in a mansion in surrey he captains england, captains chelsea, gets to at least the champsions league semi's every year, why would he want he want to play for man city at the moment we asking him to move his family to manchester cant offer him european football,so there's no ponit offering him the same money that he's on at chelsea the offer has to be a real head turner something that will really make him think about it and that is what we have if we get the likes or terry in a couple of years we wont have to offer crazy money agents will be ringing city to try and get us to sign there players but if you want the best team you have to buy the best players who command the best salary
By dave needham.. Posted July 26 2009 at 7:49 AM.
i think we shuld wait till end of the transfer season ... keep rejectin man city bids so they will come with an improved bid...by august 31 try to sell terry for 100million pounds.... tat willl be the best transfer chelsea ever made.... we shuld think abt the club not a single player..... with tis money we can buy another 5 world class defenders.....
By john.. Posted July 26 2009 at 7:45 AM.
terry aint going nowwhere certainly not to a club that cant offer CL football this season, if man city have not attracted players for the money why then did gareth barry so want to go to liverpool last season oh i want to play CLfootball, oh yeah lol oh and the money grabbing adebyor who only aseason ago tried to hold arsenal to ransom for more money, as for tevez well he couldn't get a game in a team with only three strikers [goal scores] how the hell is he going to get in with 8 others in the way pmsl. like i said before terry is staying despite a so called silence and i myself and other surporters are going to enjoy by the january window seeing players complaining and wanting to leave because they cant get a game or even better not complaining just being happy to take the money for nothing lol 9 strikers no defence its a bit like an italian tank 8 gears 1 forward and 7 reverse KTBFFH
By justin howard.. Posted July 26 2009 at 7:37 AM.
tu tu tu, these Man City fans are living in denial. May i remind them, that before they start questioning OUR concerns about the players going to City for money, it is best they remember WHERE WE WERE SITTING IN THE TABLE BEFORE ABRAMOVICH TOOK OVER!!! we were a Top 4 team ALREADY PLAYING CHAMPIONS LEAGUE... a dream that would remain a dream for many years to come. How would City fans respond to the fact that Barry was dying for liverpool "to play champions league football", or Adebayor who made calls to Chelsea & Man Utd, begging them to buy him. :-) I REST MY CASE! if it isnt about the money, then what is?!!??!?!? Terry would be stupid to go to Man city. not only he would be deprived to Top flight football - i.e. champions league, but also risk his england captaincy. Why would he wanna play for a club who was fighting relegation 2 seasons ago? :-)
By Tahir.. Posted July 26 2009 at 3:48 AM.
We all know where Terry wants to go. And it's not for the money. Whatever City are prepared to pay, Chelsea will match it. It anoys me when angry bile spewing fans of so called top 4 clubs use the same old "they only sign for the money" line. Especially Chelsea who were just A.N.Other club before they got thier own Billionaire. I'd like if once, Just once, a fan of another prem league club would come out and agree that what is happening at city is unlike anything any other club can offer a potential transfer target. A chance to be part of a project to make a club with a fantastic fanbase, That is not already a top 4 team, The best club in Europe. Which has the financial backing to make it an almost certainty. Why wouldn't you want to be part of that???
By blakefish80.. Posted July 26 2009 at 1:38 AM.
I feel John Terry has been the rock of our defence for many years and would not like to see him go. From another angle if he is not happy or would like to have a different challenge then he must take the chance and move on and all Chelsea supports must support this great player in what ever he does. I have full respect for what JT has done for our club and I'm hoping he will be with us for many years to come..
By Jon.. Posted July 26 2009 at 1:03 AM.
So we must presume JT's "representative" Aaron Lincoln has arrived in the USA and is pushing the City deal again. JT's popularity among Chelsea fans is taking a right battering - to some he'll now never be the legend he might have been. Still, in years to come while others are being hailed as genuine heroes he can stay at home and stare at his bank balance.
By Farty Foulke.. Posted July 25 2009 at 11:20 PM.
talking to other chelsea surpporters i keep hearing the same story . if he dosent want to play for chelsea anymore let him go but dont look at us for cries of theres only one john terry when you run out at city you kissed the chelsea badge one to many times for you not to come out and say nothing to the blues surpporters
By tomo.. Posted July 25 2009 at 11:29 PM.
i think terry is holding out for a better deal from chelsea like Lampard last year. with all this money still floating around in football ( big club ) if terry wants to go 2 city & not see out the rest of his contract Chelsea should banish him or anyone else 2 reserve football then we will see
. Hope im wrong & he is a loyal man
