EVERTON WILL PAY £7m FOR ALAN HUTTON

David Moyes raises stakes for Scotland defender

EVERTON plan to pay £7million for Tottenham's Scotland international right-back Alan Hutton.

The Merseysiders' manager David Moyes had valued Hutton at £5m while Spurs chairman Daniel Levy wanted his money back after paying £9m just 18 months ago.

Now the two clubs look like splitting the difference to arrive at a deal for the injury-hit former Rangers defender who made only eight league appearances last season.

Hutton was a fab player for Rangers, injury has hit his Spurs career at present, 7m is a good investment in a solid player. His value will go up in time, would be sad to see him leave Spurs to Everton, but Moyes is a top notch manager who will get the best out of him.

He's absolutely top class, would love to see him at Goodison. Far better than both kyle's although that may change in coming years, but I think i'm right in saying Alan is only 25 as well, I suspect he'll become one of the best right backs in the country if he stays fit which I hope he can. Get him in Moyesy

I would not give 7mill for him leave it till the window is about to close strong rumours are going the rounds that Levy is carrying to much debt on the club any club will get Hutton for half of what that hard faced Levy is asking.

I for one would love to see the toffees get Hutton. In fact, I would drive him up there ! Kyle Naughton is going to be fantastic for us !

Hutton is a cracking player (even world class?) going forward, there should be no worries on that account.

Would perhaps be concerned about injuries and his defending though.

HA, why are spurs total scum? Because we beat you to the signing of 2 players? Also Hutton is far better than Hibbert and I would not want to sell him to a team that are realistically cometing with us for 5th spot.

Alan Hutton was the worst player i saw at Goodison last year, if Moyes has any sense he will not waste money on him

By Greg.. Posted July 26 2009 at 12:19 PM.

he's a terrific player and he was out for months with a broken foot - that's not injury prone is it

By Ross.. Posted July 26 2009 at 11:58 AM.

hutton on his game is worldclass, brillant at goin 4ward and well better than hibbert.whos he anyway lol.huttons still got time 2 improve aswell, gers fan

Hutton is class. Otherwise why would Spurs have forked out £9m in the first place? But plenty of players brought in at that time simply didn't do the business under Ramos. Poor management rather than a poor player. What we, EFC, lack at right back in Hibbo is going forward. Hutton will give us this.

It is generally believed by Rangers fans that Hutton didn't want to leave for Tottenham, but was forced out to bring money in. (Jokes at the time showed him being tied up and bundled into the boot of a car!)
He has had some great games for Scotland, especially the Hampden game via Italy, when the Italian defence could not keep up with him.
David Moyes will get the best from him, he is a better attacker than defender though!

If he stays injury free, he will be a decent signing, is a risk at 7 mil but we do need a right back.

By James Court.. Posted July 26 2009 at 10:19 AM.

Hutton, by all accounts, is a decent player when he's on the pitch but how many times a season is that? EFC have more than their fair share of injuries to 1st team players so do we really want to add another to the casualty list. Also, didn't Hutton choose Spurs over EFC in the first place.. he obviously went for glory but came up with nothing. Top Balc says leave him on the bench at WHL

Why waste 7m on him, always injured no better than hibbert! That's serious money. Plus I'd never do business with tottenham or dirty harry again! Total scum!

Hutton is a good player ,strong fast, but we cant keep collecting right backs we have a stack of them, sell for 7 mil and put the money towards huntalar

By paulcj.. Posted July 26 2009 at 7:49 AM.

Hutton on his game is a world-class attacking full-back. Gers fan.

By Greig.. Posted July 26 2009 at 7:37 AM.

I would of rathered Naughton, not second best Hutton, and he is not the sort of player we should be going for, he is another injury jinxed player. Azpilicueta is class from Osasuna in Spain go for him. In Moyes we trust!!

Moysey, stay well clear Hutton is Mickey Mouse. Can't defend to save his life.

By Manny F.. Posted July 26 2009 at 1:37 AM.

please sign him moyes!!
hes class, weeeeeeeeeeeell better than hibbert!!
i'd rather have him than naughten!!

By Chris.. Posted July 26 2009 at 1:19 AM.
