JERMAINE JENAS WANTED

Aston Villa lead race for Spurs' England ace

ASTON VILLA look like landing England ace Jermaine Jenas from Tottenham.

The midfielder, 26, wants to iron out some minor personal terms before putting pen to paper.

Boss Martin O'Neill is set to make way for Jenas by selling playmakers Craig Gardner and Nigel Reo-Coker.

I have been a Spurs fan all my life and its time to cash in on Janus who in my view (and a majority of Spurs fans) is crap. One or two good passes all game where he goes missing, nothing is created, the odd goal to cover up his poor performances, with one good game in 10. He just makes he whole team lathargic, it was proof on Friday against Barcelona. He was subbed at Half-time and the second half was much better than the first. Sorry, I would take anything over 8 mill as it would represent a profit on an average player. Good luck Villa, I certainly wont miss him!!!! PS Young is well over priced but a swap and cash could be a possibility with Janus.

In response to ''So the player himself saying he wasn't leaving wasn't enough for you people''. Great, as a Villa fan myself, I do not want Jermaine Jenas as Villa. He's very much an average player, simple as. If we want to move forward why buy players from a club that's sitting in mid table anyway. Ashley Young has also said that he will not be leaving Villa, so lets have an end to that speculation too please. Fair enough if a Barcelona, Real Madrid came in with a huge offer. But Liverpool, Tottenham??? Behave! There is very little chance of MON doing any business with Liverpool after Benitez inappropriate, and unprofessional approach for Barry last season. And Tottenham?!!?? Ha ha, where to start. Harry Redknapp is allowed to say that Patrick Vieira wants to go there, and nothing gets said. David O'Leary when at Villa once said ''I think there is a player there who wants to join us'' when talking about Jame Beattie when at Southampton. And he gets a fine and telling off from the FA. Nice to see how the shoe is on the other foot when it comes to Tottenham and London clubs. DISGRACEFUL.

Speaks volumes that the majority of these letters are not from Villa fans.
Lets deal with each bit systematically to extract the sense not the virtual reality !
Reo-Coker and Gardner did not exactly tear up any trees last season . True Gardner has loads of potential but he like Reo-Coker have seen their careers stall and need to move on .Selling them for the fee it takes to get Jenas isnt bad business.
Anyone who takes an interest in the youth at the Villa will see we have some marvelous youngsters in Bannen and Stieber. It is for them to fill the spaces vacated not average premiership players

Jermaine Jenas isn't good enough for Villa. I'd take Tom Huddlestone anyday of the week over that greedy mercenary.
Don't think we need a central midfielder anyway, Craig Gardner is more than capable.

i am struggling to understand MON from Xmas this year on form we were the worst in the premier league since then we have lost our best two players and others look likely to go, how can we improve our situation if we do not buy suitable quality replacements, at this stage i can only see us in the relagation battle, what is MON up to can we at least see some comment from him or the club explaining what are plans are, no good doing up pubs etc if there is not going to be anyone sitting in them, in respect to buying players MON seems to be a reluctant to spend money (if he does not them somebody else will, look at Naughton possibly Delph etc.

Just a note to the spurs fans. What players say and what players do are totally different. Quote Gareth Barry " I will only leave Villa for a Champions league club". As for Lightning Smith you must be the only person in football who sees Villa as a club in decline at least we are buying players from the premiership not the championship. JJ would flourish at Villa along with the rest of Englands world cup squad.
As for Villa fans, have faith in MON we haven't had it this good since Ron Saunders. Up the Villa

this is very worrying why is martin o`neil selling these players,i was under the impression mr lerner had transfer money for o`neil but with laursen retired, gareth "sellout " barry goin to man city ,and already last season having 1 of the smallest squads in the premier league,i get the impression o`neils been told to sell before he buys ,with barrys money we got downing, not bad i feel when downings fit,and to get jermaine jenas (maybe) we gotta sell coker AND gardner to fund the move,i really hope n pray im wrong ,but developing villa park isnt priority, gettin a squad of substantial numbers for lifein the premiership ismore important, also the europa cup,SHOW US YOUR MONEY LERNER OR LEAVE,whats the point in developing the holte suite, trinity road co orperate restaurents, when surly the first team on the field is more important, prioritise whats more important please!!!!

Oh yes, of course. This makes sense. Villa had the smallest squad in the premier league and were in europe, we will be in europe again but have already lost, laursen barry and knight so selling gardner and reo-coker makes alot of sense really i guess. Come on, MON has clearly stated he is looking to build a squad not sell it and just before this article was published jenas said he wasn't going to leave!

Dont you read the papers. JJ says he is staying at Spurs . End of. Anyway why would he want to reverse his career and move to a club in decline. Take a look at the second half of last seasons stats. Spurs were way ahead, and that trend will continue.

By Lightning Smith.. Posted July 25 2009 at 11:07 PM.

So the player himself saying he wasn't leaving wasn't enough for you people.

Pathetic.
