CARDIFF 'BIGGEST SPENDERS'

Bluebirds' ambition clear, insists chairman Peter Ridsdale

SPLASHING THE CASH - Peter Ridsdale

PETER RIDSDALE has hailed Cardiff City as the Championship's big spenders.

The Bluebirds chairman insists the Welsh club can't be accused of a lack of ambition as they gear up for the new campaign.

And Ridsdale reckons no other club in the division has spent more cash than Cardiff this summer, with boss Dave Jones drafting in five players for more than £5m.

He said: "We're committed to paying £5.25m in transfer fees so far this summer after signing Michael Chopra, Mark Hudson, David Marshall, Paul Quinn and Anthony Gerrard. I'm pretty sure that's the most this club has ever spent in a single summer.

"We're doing everything we can to support the manager and build a team that can challenge for promotion. If you look at our levels of investment, I don't think we can be accused of not being ambitious."

I have to agree had Chopra on loan at TCG and Newastle couldn't give him away. I'd take Earnie, Hulse all day. They make and take their chances. Saying that Tyson bagged an hatrick yesterday against Burton.

Forest -when they are done- will have a big bag of talent at their disposal. None of it overpriced.

Yeah, you've spent the most thus far but Forest will surpass you within the next couple of days. They are the ones that's making the waves in the transfer market, not Cardiff!
£4m for Chopra?????? what a waste of money but having said that, it is Ridsdale that's in charge and we all no know what he did to Leeeds Utd - He shouldn't even be allowed to chair another Football club....
