TIGER WOODS has prepared to play Turnberry's Ailsa Course for the first time by watching tapes of Jack Nicklaus' 'Duel in the Sun' with Tom Watson.

The Golden Bear won the Open three times but, in 1977 at Turnberry, he was runner-up to Watson in golf's most famous two-man showdown.

Jack was a shot down but fired his second shot with an eight-iron out of a gorse bush to within 40ft on the 72nd before he sunk the putt.

Watson holed from two feet to win but Woods, chasing a fourth Open win, said: "I can't believe Jack made that putt."

World No 1 Woods, 33, added: "Turnberry is a difficult challenge but I'm anxious to return after I missed last year with my knee injury."
