ASTON VILLA will turn their attention to Werder Bremen star Mesut Ozil after refusing to up their bid for Fabian Delph.

Boss Martin O'Neill saw his £6million offer for Leeds midfielder Delph, 19, rejected and believes his inexperience does not justify a higher fee.

But Ozil, 20, has already won a cap for Germany and O'Neill thinks he is better prepared for the rigours of Premier League football.

Villa look set to confirm their interest with a £12m bid - and Ozil is ready to turn down Bremen's offer of a new contract to seal a move.

Also, Ozil is an U21 international, i doubt he'll feature as Germany still have the likes of Ballack and Frings in CM as well as a host of other quality players. I have no doubt he'll be thinking about the world cup but a move to Villa wont hinder his chances nor his development. If anything, he could make a name for himself at Villa.

Aston villa a 'mediocre' club ? 2 succesive 6th place
finishes in 2 seasons doesnt suggest this...

Every body has a price so dont see why not, he'd be a great signing for us, he's young and extremely gifted. He'd be the missing link between strikers and midfield, something Villa have been without for a long time. If Villa dont get him then they should go in for someone like Joao Moutinho, another quality young player with a bright future.

A.Villa is a mediocre club. Don't think a Germany international will accept to play there with the WC in a year's time.

Bremen will not allow him to move. He's an ideal replacement for Diego

Rubbish. Ozil is Bremens replacement for Diego. There's no chance they're gonna let him go anywhere. He signed a 5 year contract in Jan 2008 so plenty of contract left anyway.
