TOON MELTDOWN FEAR

Americans' caution before buying Mike Ashley's troubled club

READY TO GO - Mike Ashley

THE American investors bidding to take control at troubled Newcastle fear the club could be facing a financial meltdown like Leeds.

They are currently undergoing a further bout of stringent assessments to assure themselves the club is financially viable.

A Toon source said: "They are worried the situation could turn into another Leeds United. That is not the case but they are going through a lot of financial models. They are the preferred bidders and they have a long-term plan."

Owner Mike Ashley has so far refused to move from his £100million asking fee, which will still see him lose around £150m from his brief and controversial reign.

The delay means Toon have missed out on several transfer targets.

Fraizer Campbell joined local rivals Sunderland for £6m while fellow striker Kevin Doyle moved from Reading to Wolves for £6.5m.

A very juvenile thread if I may say so, displaying the intellectual berevity of NOW readers. Very childish and lacking in any creditable content.

Look forward to the following season when the Toon face the Mighty Carlisle Utd in Div one. Only one team up north.

If Newcastle get accepted into Division 2 of the Scottish League then i would hope my team Livingston, who are skint, can try their best to get relegated to the bottom division so they can play at Sid James Park and take the gate receipts which would keep us alive for at least another season.

The Scottish League may just be a step to much at this stage. Why don't they start in the Welsh League or League of Ireland and if they can start winning again then they maybe could progress to the Scottish Leagues.

Steve are you mental!
Newcastle is as close to Scotland as London is to France .
Should Arsenal, Chelsea and co be playing Marseille next season?
Shut up until you know what you're on about.

Newcastle is nearly in Scotland so why dont they join the Scottish League, starting in Division 2,after about 10 years they might get into Division 1.
