Mathers at the double as Wolves sink Crus

RICHIE MATHERS' try-scoring double proved Warrington can cope without Lee Briers.

The Wolves were without star half-back Briers through a hamstring injury. But they piled on to the misery of the Super League newcomers with a four-try blitz.

A brace of second-half tries from Mathers was backed up by earlier strikes by Jon Clarke and Ben Harrison.

Towering

Warrington did not look back after Clarke opened the scoring following Michael Monaghan's towering up and under.

Ben Flower had a try ruled out for the hosts on 46 minutes.

Ben Harrison doubled the lead before Mathers' brace - although Luke Dyer went over for Crusaders' late consolation.

SCORERS - Crusaders: try Dyer; goal Lennon. Warrington: tries Clarke, Harrison, Mathers 2; goals Hicks 3.
