Former world No 1 Roddick, 26, said: "Obviously you can't really say enough to signify what Roger's career has been to this point. But I would love to delay the 15th title for another Grand Slam."
The Swiss star's first French Open win last month saw him equal Pete Sampras' tally of 14 Grand Slam titles, as he became only the sixth man in history to win the big four.
Federer, 27, is a firm favourite to claim the record outright by beating American Roddick in the Wimbledon final for the third time, having already done so in 2004 and 2005.
But Roddick played superbly to beat Britain's No 3 seed Andy Murray in the semi-finals - and is desperate to claim just a third win in 21 matches against Federer.
A Roddick victory would leave Federer having to wait until September's U.S. Open for another chance to reach the landmark.
But all the statistics point to a easy Federer win. He has dropped one set at SW19 this year, while No 6 seed Roddick has lost six.
Federer has won all seven of the pair's previous Grand Slam clashes and is contesting a record 20th Grand Slam decider, while Roddick's last final was the 2006 U.S. Open where he lost to Federer.
Since then, Federer and Rafael Nadal have dominated the Slams. Roddick added: "I've never been one to begrudge anyone success.
"But, more often than not, they haven't had to go through me to win any of those."
